Fear is where religions come from, evolution taught us to fear what we did not know. There is no 'spiritual truth' because there are no spirits.

Fear and superstition was the basis for primitive religion which was the scaffolding for the reception of revealed religion.

Religious people know what spiritual truth is, but like love it's difficult to define other than by experience.

If that's where you want to hang your hat it's not my place to tell you not to.

I realized the Atheist belief was ridiculous when I was a child.
What's "ridiculous" about the Atheist belief now?

I would venture to say Atheists can run rings around you and me both.

I've seen atheists chew Christians up and spit them out with their science.

Ridiculous ... not on your life.

Foolish ... most definitely.

Even now you don't know that atheism is not a belief it's a rejection of belief, perhaps that's why you are religious.
For a nonbeliever who is neutral that would be true, but you promote the doctrines of doubt. You joined a Christian forum as an Atheist and promote the lack of belief as belief.

Mariam Webster's.

atheism
play
noun athe·ism \ˈā-thē-ˌi-zəm\
Definition of atheism
Popularity: Top 30% of words
  1. 1 archaic : ungodliness, wickedness

  2. 2 a : a disbelief in the existence of deity
  3. b: the doctrine that there is no deity

Why would I want to buffalo you?
For the same reason scientists do.

I can give you nine reasons why you would want to:

Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urantia ... I mean ... Urania.

If your religion is true then it has nothing to fear from doubt because truth will out in the end.

If anything I am promoting disbelief because religious people have no reason to believe other than personal belief, they believe because they want to believe and not because what they believe is true.
Religious people do not care if what they believe is true or not they just want and need to believe, once they believe they tell themselves they believe because it's true.

Of course I was a product of my family and culture that's why I know that what you believe did not come from anywhere other than someone else's belief

Well you know wrong. It was towards the end of a degree course (in maths) when I felt "something" prompting me to look at this religion stuff more seriously. I resisted it at first. In the first place theists in the UK are regarded at best as mildly eccentric, and I had no wish to be thought mildly eccentric. In the second place, I had the likes of people like Mary Whitehouse to put me off of the whole idea. I don't know if you are old enough for that name to mean anything to you.

75% of British people are not religious, why do you think that is?

Because there is nothing easier than to go with the flow.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel any better.
You still haven't told me how many religious claims you reject, then again denial makes up 50% of any religion.

Atheist don't bother my beliefs, their fundamental pessimism is a super-material phenomenon of a mind conscious of values while claiming that the universe is purely material.

Hmmm ...

I guess I can't argue that.

I too have noticed the pessimism that scientists & atheists display.

Especially in the area of wanting to throw out a love-thine-enemy theology in favor of their so-called "neutral" stance.

What you call pessimism we call reality, if we face the facts they are easier to live with, if we deny the facts we must seek out religion.

So you know my history better than I do, do you?
No I was answering this.
'Because there is nothing easier than to go with the flow'.

BTW, You still haven't told me how many religious claims you reject.

I apologise it was not you I ask that question it was Colter, you could answer but I doubt you will, Colter most certainly wont.

I can understand why you might want to reject that almost self evident truth. It feels so much better to consider yourself one of the enlightened ones, doesn't it?

BTW, You still haven't told me how many religious claims you reject.

Let me see:
Polytheism
Transubstantiation
Open Theism
Bodily Assumption of Mary
Gnosticism
Modalism

Is that enough to be going on with?

Atheism is as you so rightly point out the default position, so in that respect yes I do go with the flow.

What about Islam and Hindu to name but two of the thousands of other religions you more than likely reject, for no reason I might add because their claims are no wilder than yours..
