If you want to believe it didn't backfire go right ahead. Many people do have a memory and consequences do add up and hit a point where things happen. Nobody I know that supported Trump thinks anything about Impeachment we all think it is a JOKE and meaningless and just another scar from a battle to us, something to talk about around a campfire when you have used up all your ghost stories.

We need to get the facts of who, what and why the insurrection occurred. If we let it go without investigation, the next one will occur sooner and it may work. We could wake up in an authoritarian, autocratic or fascist state of America. There is evidence republicans in congress helped this unfortunate event transpire. And actually inspired the undermining of our democracy with nonsensical rhetoric. Try this for perspective, if the violence and death at the Capitol was from the BLM protesters, would an investigation be warranted?

Surely, the rioters were Trump supporters gone wild. But since the party regulars had nothing to do with inciting the insurrection or organizing it, then they should strongly support the investigations.

Obviously, McCarthy and McConnell don't want to testify and explain their comments in the few days before the attack.
