The expert wooden ship builders who say it is not possible.

The ark was not a 'ship'. (I've typed that at least a hundred times over the years during these debates.) A good question for the experts (other than shipbuilding experts) is; "Under what conditions would the ark have survived?" I'm guessing they would come up with some really good ideas.

So when all was said and done, Noah just told the thousands of workers "So long!" and let them all drown? That's pretty cruel and heartless.

Not really, Noah was the first Venture Capitalist.

Now that I think of it...

Alright, so the reason the world was flooded was because everyone (sans Noah's family) was evil. This means that the workers he must have hired would have been very sinful. By giving them food, shelter, etc, in exchange for work, wasn't he enabling them to sin more?

Or even worse, if they weren't 'evil', he knowingly let thousands of innocent workers die.

I don't think Noah cared what the workers did on their own time.

Dutch Man builds Replica of Noah’s Ark

A working replica of Noah's Ark opened in a museum in Schagen, Netherlands. It was constructed by a descendant of the Lost Tribe of Zebulon, who were ancient Israeli mariners and merchant traders. He constructed the boat as a modern day replica constructing according to the exact scale given in the TaNaKh (Hebrew Old Testament) The massive central door in the side of Noah's Ark was first opened to a crowd of curious townsfolk to behold the wonder. This replica of the biblical Ark was built by Dutch Creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Hebrew Scripture.

The ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house.

Life-sized models of giraffes, elephants, lions, crocodiles, zebras, bison and other animalsgreet visitors as they arrive in the main hold.

A contractor by trade, Huibers built the ark of cedar and pine. Biblical Scholars debate exactly what the wood used by Noah would have been.

Huibers did the work mostly with his own hands, using modern tools and with occasional help from his son Roy. Construction began in May 2005. On the uncovered topdeck - not quite ready in time for the opening - will come a petting zoo, with baby lambs and chickens, and goats, and one camel.

Visitors on the first day were stunned. 'It's past comprehension', said Mary Louise Starosciak, who happened to be bicycling by with her husband while on vacation when they saw the ark looming over the local landscape.

'I knew the story of Noah, but I had no idea the boat would have been so big ' There is enough space near the keel for a 50-seat film theater where kids can watch a video that tells the story of Noah and his ark. Huibers, a Christian man, said he hopes the project will renew interest in Christianity in the Netherlands, where church going has fallen dramatically in the past 50 years.

Psalm 71:18 - “Now that I am old and gray...give me the time to tell this new generation (and their children too) about all your mighty miracles.”

I'm doing this for myself, not anyone else. Check your bible. Do you see anything that I've added?

Haven't you ever heard a two-hour sermon explaining two or three verses of scripture?

Yes, you added a whole team of workmen to Noah building his ark. You added him leaving them behind to drown when the flood came.

Explaining is one thing, adding your own completely unBiblical statements to Scripture and presenting them as if they have the same authority is another. I suggest you desist.

The bible is pretty thin on design details for the ark. Much design detail was left up to Noah in his day, and me in my day. Who can prove me wrong?

The only way to disprove the design would be to build an ark and have a global flood. If the ark falls apart and sinks, you are right.

Noah, maybe. You?

Yeah, no.

Show me where I wrote it in the bible. Noah left everyone behind to drown.

I didn't add anything to scripture. The only place my assumptions appear are on these forums. Speaking of assumptions, where are you on the 'assumption' of Mary into heaven?

He build in on top of a steel barge! You can see it on the pictures! It is right there!

Who do you think you (and this guy) are fooling?

Not me for sure. The real ark was an ominous and foreboding looking structure, what with the black pitch all over it.

Equivocation.

First of all, where are you on the assumption of Elijah and Moses?

Also the poop dispose is going to be quite the logistical problem.

Yeah. There will have to be a bailing brigade and a waste disposal brigade working round-the-clock shifts. No one is going to be getting much sleep. Once the clean straw runs out, well....yech. Much liquified waste in the hold as these two challenges mingle.

Shall we allow the crew modern respiratory equipment or will they have to just tie cloths around their lower faces?

On second thought, modern sewer workers wear electronic sensors to warn them of any build-up of various dangerous gasses. Otherwise, their first warning may be when someone falls unconscious. In an ark pitched inside and out and the equivalent of a sea water and animal waste sewer in the hold, I guess we better give the crew modern respiratory equipment. :(

I wouldn't light a match down there either so we had better give them modern flashlights.

No need. The ark wasn't built like the Wyoming. Maybe if they had sealed the Wyoming with pitch inside and out it might not have sunk. ^_^

I once lived in a beautiful apartment on my town square. The windows and other architectural details were to die for. The only problem was that the roof leaked. The landlord kept spreading pitch up there. Buckets and buckets. I soon had a roof that merrily leaked rain with little balls of pitch in it. Eventually a normal rainfall would require me to set up a plastic bathtub and a tarp in the corner of my bedroom. This is when I gave up and moved out.

So, I can attest that even without the waves of the sea tossing to and fro and with only normal levels of rainfall, pitch and lots of it is not a panacea to leakage.
