Do you wear a tallit in church?

What on earth is a tallit, and why should I be wearing one?

welp..they say that it will bring us closer to God, and we will get the "anointing".

yep..

and he alone is our peace, eph 2, and we have access by faith, eph 3, I do not need a garment to get closer to God.

This teaching is mostly popular in Charismatic circles.

I don't know who says that, but I don't see how anything we wear; an external garment, can bring us closer to God.

Ah!
I'm very interested in starting up a prayer shawl ministry. Knitting prayer shawls is to remind others that they are loved by God and being held in prayer. I guess they might feel closer to him while they were wearing it, but it doesn't guarantee any special blessing or anointing.

it's awful..some are teaching the food restricitons, also saying we have to or 'should" keep feats and Sabbath, and others say it is wrong to say Jesus, we have to say Yeshua, and gentiles are taking dna tests to hopefully see if they are jewish, and some teach that God hears us better if we pray in hebrew, and..and....

you got it! they sell em, and they sell mazuzzas too, however that is spelled, i don't know.

yes..you are blessed, because the tallit thing can go right into col 2, just another addition some think we need, instead of teaching how we are complete in Christ, as per colossians 2:10, as you know.

If it's something people wear, it will never be as important as what's in the heart.

tallit are only as important as the fringes on their corners. with this in mind (contrary to some posters ideas), their purpose is to draw the wearer back to devotional obedience to God. In that regard there is nothing at all wrong with wearing them.

They say it ushers in the Spirit. They have alot of attachments, as I call it, to the gospel, the doctrine really can't stand up to any decent form of scriptural muster though.

The sad thing is, that gentiles feel subordianate to jewish people, because really they get subjugated into judaism. The advocates of the doctrine over esteem jews to the point where one feels subordinate to them, it really is a form of racism, that which Paul fought off alot, as Per Rom 3-4, and Gal 3:28, and col 3:11, and all of Paul's Abrahamic usage did likewise.

Can you give me some NT text that teaches that the church, that which is mostly gentile, is somehow obedient and more "devoted" by wearing a Jewish garment? Abraham did not have a tallit, and we got the Spirit by faith, not any kind of works, as per Gal 3, unless you can show otherwise.

They also in their teachings, almost act as though there is not a NT, almost everything is OT centered, and Jewish centered, so the shofar, and candlesticks displayed, the ark, etc, in their congregations etc, sends out a strong signal, "Jewish and the OT is the way".

Also, not all, but there is an obvious dislike, for Paul, some even seem to hate him, again, not all, but the omission of Pauline theology in their teaching, proves alot, as well as comments made here and there, like Paul was a false apostle, etc.
