totally normal.

today i went to confession and brought one of those 10 commandment questions to ask yourself papers, and i totally skipped i think commandment 7, which was about sex and all. i was going to say it, but then i just skipped! and it's totally normal..

either way, justy try and do it! and if your church has another priest during cofnession (like for my church the priest is there, and then a priest from a different church), I go to the priest from a different church, because they don't know my voice or anything. so you can always do that.

either way, just try and do it whenever you take confession! :)

Look at it this way darl.... You're confessing to God. And He already knows you did it. And the priest will have heard it all before.

Sometimes the really hard confessions are the really good ones - because afterwards you feel so light and free!

God loves you. He believes in you. You can do it!

As-salaam-alaikum!

I'm too embarassed to confess this one specific sin that I have commited. I will go in, intending to confess it, and confess something else entirely. I need a pep talk.

Well, you are free to go to confess in confessional with a grating (screen), also in a other parish, so that the priest will lissen only your voice without looking at you.

Anyway consider that the priests have lissen so many bad sins that probably a sin of you is nothing terrible for them...

Don't ever be afraid to confess anything in confession. Firsr of all, no matter what you have done, rest assured that you will be forgiven when you receive the sacrament of reconciliation. Also, the priest won't be shocked, (that thought just comes from the devil trying to discourage you). Remember too, that you are receiving a sacrament, so perhaps you should look at it from a different perspective. Since you are receiving a sacrament, you are receiving countless blessings and graces to strengthen you in your walk with Christ on the road to holiness. I would suggest praying specifically for the graces and courage to make a good confession. You could go to confession at a different catholic church than your own parrish, if that would make you feel more confortable. I will remember you in my prayers, since I too have been in the same situation. Now, I love confessing my sins; in fact I try my best to go to confession every week.

It will take you one second to admit it and then you will be absolved! I have admitted things that I don't want to admit, time and time again, and I am always amazed when the priest says 'that was a good confession'---but what he means is that it was an honest confession, and it's my suspicion the the fathers really respect it when we can abandon all pride and be honest, because that is how much we truly value forgiveness. You can do it, Rosie, you can do it. And you will feel TONS better after you do. :)

Yes, you should be embarrased, because you are the ONLY one in the ENTIRE world to have commited it, and how dare you even think about doing what Catholics are supposed to do and get it confessed.
That was all sarcasm, so don't start yelling at me.
Sin is something that everyone does, Confession is something everyone SHOULD do. There is no shame in going to confession because in doing so you are not telling the priest, "I am a sinner." You are telling the priest, "I want to be united with God." How can you feel ashamed of saying such a thing?

You think it is embarrassing to confess to the Priest ?

Just remember that whatever it is you did, all the angels and Saints in Heaven as well as our Savior had a front row seat. The Priest ? Big dealio.

Can the saints in heaven see what we are doing? LIke, I know they take an interest in the Mass, but I thought they were really only "aware" of us when we initiate the contact, by asking for their intercession? Only God sees it _all_, and angels have to be "looking" to see it, right?

I'm not totally sure, but this passage may help a little:

Heb. 12:1 And therefore we also having so great a cloud of witnesses over our head, laying aside every weight and sin which surrounds us, let us run by patience to the fight proposed to us:

:o oh no....say it isn't so!:swoon:

But even if it is, all the saints sinned in their lives, and Jesus was tempted in all points such as we, yet without sin. And even though Mary didn't sin, I am sure she is very compassionate. Of course!

Please consider how lucky and blessed you are to be able to go to confession at all! I haven't been in 13 years, and cannot because I am divorced and remarried, and after years of trying, an annulment is not obtainable for me.

I didn't think I'd ever miss confession - the Eucharist, yes, but confession? 13 years later I'd give anything to be able to go and hear those wonderful words of absolution...

So please, pray for courage, and it will be given to you, and then just GO, and please say a prayer for me, too.

Peace,
Elizabeth

Confession can be a really hard thing. In the early Church, confession was done in front of the WHOLE CONGREGATION! How much courage would that take? :)

As has already been said...God knows. He knows it all. Stop thinking of the priest as a man. There is a mystery there, in the Confessional, every bit as real as the Mystery of the Eucharist. Believe it. Jesus is there, and He is the one waiting for you. It's a wonder that people aren't running for the Confessional. ;) But then...it's a wonder to me that they aren't lined up around the block for the Eucharist either. May God will it be so one day.

Praying for you, sweetheart! Go!

Peace be with you!

Sandy
