Confession can be a really hard thing. In the early Church, confession was done in front of the WHOLE CONGREGATION! How much courage would that take?

As has already been said...God knows. He knows it all. Stop thinking of the priest as a man. There is a mystery there, in the Confessional, every bit as real as the Mystery of the Eucharist. Believe it. Jesus is there, and He is the one waiting for you. It's a wonder that people aren't running for the Confessional. But then...it's a wonder to me that they aren't lined up around the block for the Eucharist either. May God will it be so one day.

had a Priest in a Homily state he thought we needed to get out of the Confessionals and start having public altar calls.. admitting sins in front of the entire community... personally, I think I will pass on that idea and hide behind the screen and disguise my voice.
