• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone here been on Zoloft? My doctor just put me on it, and the dizziness is a bit uncomfortable. For example, while I'm typing right, I look at the keyboard and then up at the screen... Whenever I do this, I get head-swimmy.

I'm willing to trudge through this if it gets less annoying, but if this is going to keep up, maybe I should try something else.

Any help appreciated!

Yes, I was on zoloft once before. On zoloft.com it does not list dizziness as one of the more common side effects. It could be that it is a reaction to zoloft and another drug your taking or maybe your allergic. If I were you I would definitely call my doctor and tell them how your feeling. There may be something better out there for you.

Robert, How many mg are you taking ?
I have been on zoloft for 4 weeks, stated 50mg, then 75mg and a few days at a 100mg, but it seems 50mg has less side effects for me.
I didn't have dizziness but I had other side effects that got better after a few weeks, so far it has helped with my OCD, but I'm still hoping it starts helping more with my depression, I have been told it may take 2 t0 8 weeks for it's full benefit, I'm sticking with it mainly cause I have been on most other antidepressants, but I would definetly talk with your doctor (today)about the side effects your experiencing.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

I did call my physician, and he suggested that perhaps there were some interactions with the cold medicine I was also taking, so I stopped those. Symptoms were MUCH less over the weekend! PHEW!

He has me on a step-up plan, started with 25mg for 3 days, 50 mg, for 7 days, and 75 mg for the next 30 after that.

Right now the only side effect I seem to be noticing is the insatiable need to YAWN. I'm not sleepy, really...just a bit jittery, and I cannot seem to get a "satisfying" yawn into me. I start to yawn, and the air gets down into my lungs, but the yawn never quite "finishes"...very strange. (And annoying!)

Nevertheless, I think I can tolerate it. Many, many thanks!
