How long do you think it will be before Obama apologizes to Zimmerman for basically bad mouthing him when the story first broke? Uh, I do believe Obama is not big enough to apologize to anyone for anything.

I am glad the jury didn't get intimidated by the protestors. I believe they must have been sequestered, but I could be wrong as I have not been paying too much attention to the trial.

Now, I wonder how many people will be protesting the verdict and when the riots will start.

I'm glad it's over. I don't believe there was enough evidence for a jury to convict him with any certainty. I prayed the right decision would come out of this. Prayers for the Martins & Zimmermans & everyone invested in this. I'm not going to add any fuel to this fire.

I heard this morning on the news that the ACLU is already wound up, and is still citing racism.

Racism? You must be kidding. Heard one person say that Zimmerman is as much white as Obama--both have one white (Caucasian) parent! Race wasn't a part of the trial (well, okay Martin was said to interject it but everyone else chose not to go that way.) Zimmerman should never have been charged and incarcerated in the first place. He acted in self-defense. There was no evidence of it being any other way. (Wonder if Zimmerman can sue because his civil rights were violated by the "race baiters", politicians, and the oh-so-willing media?)

Never fails, does it? When some tragedy affects the African-American community in just about any town and a person who is not African-American at all is involved, don't you know that the African-American could never be the one at fault, could he be?

Amazing thought patters some people have.

Looks like it may not be over for him
George Zimmerman -- Not Off the Hook (Maybe) ... FEDS Could Prosecute | TMZ.com

I really hope they leave him alone, I find it saddening someone can be found not guilty in the court of law then the fed can take them right back to court if they feel like it.

I only read about the trial, I didn't watch any of it, but i'm going to pray more for all those involved, as the entire situation is really sad.

God Bless you all.

They can only bring him back in under different charges. He can never be retried for murder/manslaughter even if he came out tomorrow and said that he did it in cold blood and there never was a fight. Not saying that's what happened, I'm just giving an example.

I agree. Leave him alone. He's already been through a trial and found not guilty of even charges dreamed up at the last minute (at first it was just second degree murder--then the judge allowed the charge of Manslaughter although she wisely, IMO, rejected the prosecution's sudden desire for the jury to consider a charge of child abuse as well.)

Yeah but it's essentially the same thing, as the max sentence if they were to charge him with this other stuff is probably similar to if had been convicted of murder or manslaughter, the point is the fact the fed can keep him in court even after he was found not guilty is really sad and shouldn't be allowed. When I watched the tv show cops a lot of times what they'd do is charge the individual with as many things as they could think of, felonies, whatever because they know most of it wouldn't stick in court, so were trying to increase their odds...there's no justice in that. Neither is there justice in someone having to sit in a jail cell months to years waiting for their trial to be over, assuming they can't afford the bail. Are people reimbursed for that when found not guilty? I'm guessing not.

Well, it is important to remember that Federal charges and State charges are considered different. That said, the politics behind this is pretty stupid. Were the Federal investigation to have continued and not stopped it would make sense, but that isn't what happened.

How are they considered different?

Zimmerman is charger with murder and manslaughter, found not guilty.

Now the Fed, my understanding is investigating whether he killed Trevon Martin because of race reasons.

IMHO it should be over, whatever reason for Zimmerman getting out of his car, and the outcome of that really saddening night, Zimmerman was found not guilty for it, so he should be left alone. Ultimately we're judged by The Lord in the end anyway, of course.

Here is my opinion in the words of Joe Scarborough over at Politico:

"I am angry that George Zimmerman could chase a teenager through his neighborhood, ignore a dispatcher’s pleas, make racially charged statements, provoke a confrontation with a young man armed only with Skittles, and pull the trigger that ended that teenager’s life, only to walk away without as much as a misdemeanor attached to his name. But I also know that the laws of Florida favored the defense, that the prosecution overreached in its efforts to convict Zimmerman on a second-degree murder charge, and that we will never know which man was screaming for help in the moments that George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin. I also know that it is a fool’s errand to second-guess the conclusions of a jury that sat through countless hours of testimony and evidence before reaching a verdict."

This was probably the right verdict, but it's a sad one. Praying
