The White House canceled a press conference, said a minerals deal is off the table after the tense meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not apologize for the heated exchange with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, but told Fox News in an exclusive interview he is confident their relationship can be salvaged.

Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump and Vice President JD Vance erupted into a shouting match at the White House on Friday that was seen worldwide. The Ukrainian president traveled to the United States to meet with Trump after the commander-in-chief said a peace negotiation to end the war between Ukraine and Russia is in its final stages.

"Mr. President, do you think your relationship with Donald Trump — President Trump — after today can be salvaged?" Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier asked Zelenskyy.

"Yes, of course, because it's relations more than two presidents. It's the historical relations, strong relations between our people, and that's why I always began… to thank your people from our people," Zelenskyy said during an exclusive interview Friday on "Special Report."

Very impressed with Zelenskyy. His nation faced with extinction , and at the mercy of the West for a "defense" after being lied to by the West when it was time to send the Nukes stationed in Ukraine to Russia - as if the West would really protect Ukraine should Russia simply decide to "move in now that Ukrane has no Nukes left".

He comes to the US and gets very rude and rough treatment by our leaders - but is still making "politically calming" remarks. No ranting and rude shouting-down of the other person.

His demeanor was befitting the leader of a Christian nation

He knows his survival depends on getting along and dealing with us - no matter how rude and unchristian our behavior toward him and his nation is during negotiations. Hopefully we can meet him half way in that regard during negotiations.

Let me try to understand this.
Trump and Vance demand a 50% share of Ukraine's minerals, which have an estimated value of $512 trillion! in return for help in ending a war which will never cost the US a tiny fraction of $256 trillion!
If Zelensky signs the agreement giving them rights to $256 trillion, Trump and Vance should have been falling over themselves thanking him!

Trump is trying to get Zelensky to pay for the US support they have been given over the past years.

But $256 trillion worth of minerals access? We have given a hundred billion....about 1/2560% of what Trump is demanding in mineral rights.
Even a loan shark would be astonished at the "interest" being demanded.

It's not that high and it's an ongoing trade deal, which Zelensky rejected BTW.

Zelensky is not interested in peace but US dollars.

Let me get this straight, Ukraine has assets of $1024 Trillion (1.24 Quadrillion), but needs $256 trillion from the US?

First, it is not for past profits, it is only for future profits. The mining of minerals can be expensive. The U.S. has trillions of dollars of minerals but getting those minerals out of the ground is another story.

So, basically they want Ukraine, the country which is the victim of this war, to pay war reparations to the USA.

Let that sink in: the only country that benefited from this war, with huge natural gas and weapons contracts and significant weakening of one of its main rivals without a single drop of American blood, will now extract money from Ukraine that lost 15 million citizens to emigration and several hundred thousand soldiers, and will need every single dollar to rebuild their country from ruins.

Russia bled out, Ukraine bled out, European economy suffered immensely (not only because we have to buy natural gas for three times the price we got it from Russia) but it is America who will, on top of everything, extract money from the war-torn and destroyed Ukraine whilst forcing her to a peace deal which will cede 20% of her territory to Russia.

Let that properly sink in.

It is Americans with some of these corporate entities and more. Peace is bad for business, and our government needs tax revenue.

Nancy Pelosi has made enough money in the stock market. Time to stop the bloodshed and the weapons companies big profits. The Ukraine war would not have started but for Democrat leaders lying and getting Joe elected. There have been over a million casualties, and every day Zelensky delays a ceasefire more will die. Zelensky has no problem with the mineral rights agreement, it is the ceasefire that he balks at.

So you are saying that Ukraine was manipulated into going to war by the previous American administration?

That makes American demands for Ukrainian rare earth metals look even more vile.

Time to stop the bloodshed and the weapons companies big profits.

You must understand three things:

1. Russia is not withdrawing from the Ukrainian lands that they are currently occupying, so forcing Ukraine into a peace agreement would mean rewarding Russians for their invasion and war crimes with roughly 20% of Ukraine's territory.

2. If Russia is not defeated and expelled from Ukraine, they will use the time to rebuild their military potential and attack again. This much is obvious.

3. Allowing point 1 to happen means throwing the entire rule based international legal order into a trash bin.

If that's what Donald Trump wants, then Europe has to step in, beef up both our nuclear and conventional forces, and aid Ukraine. It looks like the Free World has shrunk considerably recently and Europe stands alone. Oh, well...

Oh, and one more thing - just in case everyone has forgotten: Ukraine gave up about 2000 nuclear warheads in exchange for guarantees (also from America) of her borders inviolability.

I appreciate some of Trumps agenda, but he behaved like schoolyard bully and fool. I'm disappointed in Rubio and Vance. They may not have a job if they speak honestly though. I pray he hasn't made some backdoor agreement with Putin concerning land for peace and left the true owner of the land out.
I believe it was Lincoln who said, "Stand with anybody that stands right, stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong."

Unfortunately the left has gone completely off the rails and the populace appears to be infatuated with naked emperors. This country will be judged, what are the options?

Trump is an individual who wants to broker a peace agreement. It it Trump's idea to start with a ceasefire. If either side says no then the fighting will continue.

When I read that I think, "What are my options? What can I change or do something about? What s in my sphere of control and influence?"

I have taken a recent interest in history. It started with history of theology and hermeneutics but there are connection everywhere. We can all be more careful in what we believe. Do the research. be willing to change our opinions. Listen to both sides carefully. Before I say anything more on Russia/Ukraine I need to actually know what I am talking about. That does not come from one side news media. At this point I must remain independent of the two main parties. I am willing to look for the good Trump does but the major shifts he is creating disturbing.
