My favorite Ted Pearce song got me to thinking....

Based on Zechariah 9

9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,A colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim And the horse from Jerusalem;
The battle bow shall be cut off.
He shall speak peace to the nations;
His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea,And from the River to the ends of the earth.’
11 “As for you also, Because of the blood of your covenant,
I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
12 Return to the stronghold,You prisoners of hope.
Even today I declare That I will restore double to you.

I love this song, especially when he sings it in Hebrew

It got me to thinking about this passage, why is it addressed only to the 'Daughters of Zion and the Daughters of Jerusalem'?

Zechariah 12:8 On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the Angel of the LORD going before them.

I understand this to be prophetic language concerning the new-renewed covenant as women represent covenants in such typology. In Isaiah 54:1-3 Yerushalem is likened to the Mishkan, (tent, curtains, cords, stakes, etc.), which is in itself symbolic for the whole covenant, (and likely why Paul quotes Isa 54:1 in Gal 4:27, pointing to the whole passage).

In the Apocalypse the bride of the Lamb is who? or more correctly, what? New Yerushalem descends out of the heavens from Elohim, (Rev 21:1-3), and what therein is she called? the Tabernacle of Elohim.

Yerushalem "of above" = our mother (mother covenant, Gal 4:22-27)

Therefore, in the like symbolism, what would the daughter of Zion-Yerushalem be according to the same allegory? The new-renewed covenant, and this is why I believe it is imperative that the Zechariah 9:9 statement be fulfilled in the Gospel accounts, (Mat 21:4-5), and thus the Groom already has the bride when he enters into Yerushalem, (and he proceeds to expound the renewal of the covenant in the final week in the Gospel accounts). The bride is the new-renewed covenant, that is, new Yerushalem.

John 3:27-29 ASV
27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it have been given him from heaven.
28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am sent before him.
29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full.
