• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello, and welcome! :D

I would like to know the difference for yuxh, psyche and psuche.
Why are they three words and only transliterated as one please? :confused:
Greetings Zeena! :wave:
Could you put up some verses using those words for us?
That would help my humble self out a little :)

 10. the soul as an essence which differs from the body and is not dissolved by death (distinguished from other parts of the body)
Translated words:KJV (105) - heart, 1; heartily + (1537), 1; life, 40; mind, 3; not tr, 2; soul, 58;

Philippeans 4:27
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whetherI come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Philippeans 2:30

I was told psuche was soul in greek..
What's this yuxk?

I need to know why is it different from psuche, why are they used like what seems to me, interchangably when they are really two different words?

Thank you for those verses.

There are 3 different ways the greek is rendered, Koine, Symbol and Transliterated. [I prefer using the "Transliterated" greek myself]

I really recommend using this good greek/hebrew Interlinear as it shows both the Koine and Transliterated greek and one reason I like it, is that I can click on the form of a hebrew/greek word and find where that EXACT form of the word is used elsewhere.

Scripture4All - Greek/Hebrew interlinear Bible software

Case, tense, sing/plural and gender determine how it is formed. Here is what I come up with for 2 Peter 2:8 and interesting that form of the word is last used in Revelation 12 [which I quoted below].

I suppose it can behoove those who really want to delve deep into the Bible to learn a little of the languages of it. Hope this helps a bit......:wave:

#5590 used 103 times in 93 verses according to ISA. This particular form of #5590 used 41 times in 35 verses. Last time in Reve 12:11.

Rotherham) 2 Peter 2:8 For in seeing and hearing, since he dwelt right among them as a righteous man, he used to torment his soul/yuchn <5590> day by day with their lawless deeds--

Textus Rec.) 2 Peter 2:8 blemmati gar kai akoh o dikaioV egkatoikwn en autoiV hmeran ex hmeraV yuchn dikaian anomoiV ergoiV ebasanizen

yuchn <5590> n, accusative sing, feminine.
Reve 12:11 And they conquer him thru the blood of the lambkin and thru the word of the testimony of them and not they love the soul/yuchn <5590> of them until death.

Strong's Number G5590 matches the Greek ψυχή (psychē), which occurs 105 times in 95 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

5590. psuche psoo-khay' from 5594; breath, i.e. (by implication) spirit, abstractly or concretely (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from 4151, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from 2222, which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Hebrew 5315, 7307 and 2416):--heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you.

What say you on Philippeans 4:27
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Many other versions of the Bible translate mind as soul, which seems to fit except, how can we be ONE soul?

That is another form of #5594.
[That particular form of it used 1 time and the last time in Reve 16:3] and is also rendered "soul"....Interesting

Search for 'Genesis 1:1' in the version

So, what do you make of it?

For me, I KNOW we are not 'one soul'.
For we each have our own identity.
Our own unique personalities.

Would you agree?

The only Scripture verse that comes to mind is;

Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

Yet, the wording in Philippeans 4:27 is weird-lol
First it mentions being one in spirit, then goes on to say mind or :eek: soul :help:

The Lord also determines what is in our Hearts.
I have a pretty large study on those "10 kings" in Revelation and notice it is God that has given into their hearts to do His purpose! Fascinating I say!

Reve 17:12 And the ten horns which thou saw are ten kings, who-any a Kingdom not yet received, but authority as kings one hour they are receiving with the beast.
13 these are having one purpose/gnwmhn <1106> are having and the power and the authority of them to the beast they are giving.
17 For the God had given into the hearts of them to do the purpose/gnwmhn <1106> of Him and to do one purpose/gnwmhn <1106> and to give the Kingdom of them to the beast until shall be being *finish* the words/*declarations of the God.

Ahh, single mindedly, one purpose, single heartedly, that makes more sense.

But then, why isn't that 'one purpose' "gnwmhn" word used instead?

I would recommend delving more deeply into the jewish/hebrew book of Revelation.
I find Reve 17:12-17 rather revealing verses concerning hearts and minds, and notice it is God Himself putting it into the "hearts" of these 10 kings to do His purpose.....Fascinating! Thoughts?

Rev 17:13
These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Obviously not referring to the mind of Christ, which requires one to to be regenerate. Ergo thoughts NOT of God, which He overuled, for His own good purpose. ;)

Tell me, how could God place it in the hearts of unregenerate men to do His will while they continue to deny His Son and be indwelt, let alone infilled with the His Holy Spirit?

Yes, God can do anything, but the question is, will He? :liturgy:

THEY are one mind, even Satan their father and THEY give THEIR power to the beast.

As a full pretorist, I would have expected you to conceed this point, for it is already happened, no?

This is speaking of the romans, no?
In that they obliterated the unbelieving Jews?
They were of one mind, even Ceasar, no?

John 19:15 Those yet cry-out "take-away! take-away! crucify! Him". Is saying to them the Pilate "the King of ye I shall be crucifying?".
Answered the Chief-priests "not we are having a King except Caesar/kaisara <2541>

Revelation 6:6 And I hear a voice in midst of the four living-ones saying: "choinex of grain/wheat a denari and three choinex of barleys a denari, and the oil and the wine no you should be injuring". [John 11:48]

1220. denarion day-nar'-ee-on of Latin origin; a denarius (or ten asses):--pence, penny(-worth).
AV - penny 9, pence 5, pennyworth 2; 16 denarius = "containing ten"
1) A Roman silver coin in NT time. It took its name from it being equal to ten "asses", a number after 217 B.C. increased to sixteen (about 3.898 grams or .1375 oz.). It was the principal silver coin of the Roman empire. From the parable of the labourers in the vineyard, it would seem that a denarius was then the ordinary pay for a day's wages. (Mt. 20:2-13)
