  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You're given a blank check and can travel anywhere you want in the world....

But back to my original thread and latest updates, I think the Israel thing is likely a no-go. The January weather is a bit X-factor for us. Looking at alternatives now....

I meant to tell you this in another thread, but I am also married to a Filipina. I am actually half Filipino myself, but I was born and raised in the US. I don't know Tagalog.

To answer your original post: if I had a blank check to travel anywhere, I would probably go to The Holy Land with my family.

That must've been a major league lifestyle shift going to Vietnam after having been raised and born here!? Why do you stay over there if you can live in the States? We'd love to have you back, man!

My dad was in Vietnam in 1966....not just a visitor....he was carrying an M14.

Thanks! I do miss the US a lot. However, it's just not a good place to be as an educator right now. Education is highly politicized and educators are often the scapegoats. As an international school principal, I have an opportunity to do the things that I could only dream of doing in the US.

However, I would not mind moving back for a couple of years for my children to experience the US. They are American citizens, but they have never been to the US!
