  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

On a lighter note, where does your username come from?

Thanks Lismore, I looked on you tube and today played some music to do with Lismore, looks great.
Nothing strange with my user name, it,s short for Robert.
Correction, not short for, but instead of, just as usual as in Scotland one may say Robbie.

Misspelling of "Genesis".
I named a character it in one of my favouritest games of all time(Phantasy Star Online: Episodes 1 and 2 for Nintendo GameCube). I was...11 at the time.
I loved the game, and my character even though i never played online. I mainly played offline co-op with my twin brother.

I decided to use it as my net handle when ever possible. :)

I take my net name from the bible Eph 2: 5 "...it is by grace you have been saved."

This is in line with my experience of having become a Christian 14 years ago, and the fuller context of the passage that this verse comes from;

Eph 2: 1 - 10 "1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Interesting question. People have often asked me why the name DesertJoe. I have recently become a resident of the UK (Scotland to be exact), and back in the states I started doing an encouragement ministry online. We so often go through deserts in this life. These can be deserts of the heart, of the soul, or of the spirit. Jesus promised us never to leave or forsake us, but sometimes He can seem far away. My name reflects my purpose, to perhaps be able to walk awhile with people through their deserts. The Joe part of the name was chosen because Joe is a very common name. I am so looking forward to how God will use me here. God bless you all :)

Nice :)

My mother is from a place called Mallaig in Scotland, just across from Skye. Spent many summer holidays there. Beautiful part of the world. Haven't been back for years. They now have a bridge that goes across to Skye (not sure how long it's been there), but I would like to someday go back and see how it now looks.

Hello:)

It's a small world! I know Mallaig well, spent a few happy trips there, to Armadale and the small Isles too! I remember taking the crossing from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kylekin by ferry before they put the bridge in! Eilean Donan Castle on Loch Alsh is an awesome place too!

Keep it up folks, we are all becoming increasingly human with each new revelation
:)

Revelation, that's the very next book I plan to have a good look at. Satisfied myself with Job for now.
