  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

In not particular order (I just numbered them so that I could make sure to get to 10):
  1. Basically any Mel Brooks movie up until about 1990 (I can't pick one, but Spaceballs was my favorite as a kid, and I also love Silent Movie, High Anxiety, Blazing Saddles, etc. I was raised with all of these as a kid thanks to my father.)
  2. The Three Amigos (Ditto; I was raised with this one)
  3. The Ref
  4. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (It's a lot funnier when you come from a music business family, I guess, because everyone I know hated me for recommending it to them...hahaha)
  5. The Graduate
  6. Amores Perros
  7. Black Cat, White Cat (comedy from Bosnian director Emir Kusturica; hard to explain...it's about the family and friends relationships between a few different groups of gypsies in Yugoslavia; very funny, touching, outrageous, and weird!)
  8. Turbo Kid
  9. The Jerk ("...and then the third day felt like five days..." :D)
  10. Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath (USSR-era Russian movie about mistaken identity and love; they recently remade this, so if you ever look for it make sure to get the original from the USSR days...I've never seen the remake, but it can't be as good as the original)
Honorable mentions: The Thing (1982), The Mirror (by Iranian director Jafar Panahi), Slums of Beverly Hills, The Producers (1968), Spinal Tap, The Man With Two Brains, My Cousin Vinny, Rodrigo D: No Futuro, etc.

I like a lot of dumb comedies, I guess.

No specific order:

Doctor Zhivago
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Is including all three films as one cheating?)
Zulu
My Fair Lady
Forbidden Planet
Twelve Angry Men
Gone with the Wind
Citizen Kane
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Maltese Falcon

Apart from the Lord of the Rings they are all films from the 40s, 50s and 60s which probably says something about me rather than about the quality of film making.

Hard to choose only 10. But here goes. My list is weighted toward comedies, and my favorite actor, Jimmy Stewart. In no particular order:

Harvey
The Man Who Knew Too Much (both the original and the Doris Day/Jimmy Stewart remake)
Rear Window
Amelie
Dr. Strangelove
Raising Arizona
Best in Show
Animal House
Dirty Harry
The 2nd Austin Powers movie (the full title probably violates the TOS)
