I was sitting at a table reading the word the other day and a man approached me indicating he also is a christian. He asked me the following,

"What kind of christian are you"

I took him to mean what denomination.

I told him I don't have a denomination and the church I go to doesn't either.

My first response was to say "I believe in the Word of God" Would that have been too cheeky or snotty? How would you respond?

Word is the right the answer to many people but Emphisis on religion. When the word became the flesh that saved us, I think religion has become almost political nowadays

I think you handled it just fine. My assumption would also have been that they were asking for your denomination.

I would have had to check a "snotty" reply as well. A pet peeve of mine is how so many Christians say/think/write of themselves as their denomination first and "Christian" second.

I too would have taken it to mean what denomination. Unless they were looking for "liberal," "conservative," or "moderate," I'm not sure what else they would be asking for.
