  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Being in College is BUSY BUSY... I understand this...

Therefore, I want to do a check up.. :) What does your relationship with God look like? Are you growing? Are you Stagnant?

If you are growing what are some tips that you can give to those in college dealing with the busyness syndrome in which they can't find the time to devote to that relationship with God?

If you aren't growing.. do you have a plan to get back on the right track?

As a College student, I understand how we can get so caught up in the busyness of life that God slips to the wayside.

In my personal life there are a few things that I have done to help that-

1) Accountability- find 1-2 people of the same sex in which you can talk to once a week about things that you are dealing with. Pray with each other and hold each other accountable to reading the word and spenging time with God. One question I always ask my AP (accountability partner) is "What is one thing that you have done within the last 2 hours that would show me that you are a Christian without the use of words?"

2) Get connected to a local church- I know, you are away from home and you miss your old church. The importance of a local church is that they are in the immediate area and can be involved in your daily life, whereas a church at home can only be involved in part of your life. Churches offer accountability, discipleship, ministry opportunity and a chance to connect with God's people.

3) Get involved with Campus Bible Studies- this promotes a way of connecting with God's people as well as being able to hash out ideas and thoughts you have about certain things with others.

4) Use a devotional book- If you are like me, sometimes I just plain forget to have a Quiet Time. Having a devotional helps because I am able to remember to do the devotional.. kind of life homework.

5) Make time with God a priority- we all say "God is the number 1 priority in my life." But what are we doing to prove that His is #1. If we can't be consistent in our quiet times and growing closer to him then obviously he really isn't a priority in our lives.

My greatest struggle is finding a church. This site has been the best family I've ever had. I think my perspective is a little jaded. At church all the kids are dressed up and smiling. Then they go home, get on the computer, and they're the ones I have to try and talk out of killing themselves. I don't know where it all went wrong, but our kids are all screwed up, and it's soemthing no one wants to talk about. Ok. That was way off topic.

Things are going pretty good for me know. Most of my classes are bible based in college and I've found a really good church in my community. On top of that, being in a bible college I'm finding a ton of accountability with my friends which is really sweet.

I've come quite a ways in the past several days, but at the same time, I've realized how selfish and weak I really am. In the past I've tried discovering God on my own, and it wasn't easy, in fact, it was nearly impossible for me, but now thanks to these boards, I can finally have some valuable insight and get my life back on the right track.

I'm not sure why you are asking the question, but to answer it, I would say my relationship with God right now , is not so good, I have the desire to become more dedicated to God but I lack the self discipline. I think my relationship is alot like to stock market,( particularly over the last two months) it has been getting better at times, only to "backslide" ( if I may use that term) at others. I would say being a Christian is hard, noone said it was going to be easy, and I think right noe GOD is very disappointed with me as I am with myself. Any suggestions on how to avoid the distractions of this world?:help:

I totally agree. I really should post my testimony of what has happened within the past month. *makes note* but yes, finding a church is the hardest part. I grew up in the church and had leadership positions to motivate me in my walk with Him, and I know that that's a little... sketchy or something, but serving Him helped to humble me so now that I'm 18 hours away from my home church and I don't have that, I'm just so spirtitually dry and wanting to do something other than just wetting my feet in a Sunday morning service. *sigh*

oh and yes, about that thing that Mr.Cheese said about today's youth and whatnot, I totally agree with that. It frustrates me and breaks my heart knowing that this kind of stuff is the "norm" in our society. OYYYYYY!! I mean, I'm totally all for being there for them and whatnot, but it hurts that this stuff never ends....

Hmm...your relationship with God is not really dependent on what you do for Him, but the state of your heart.

I agree with you, but my whole thing about actually getting involved in leadership positions in a church builds me up with a passion to serve people and God. I know my relationship with God is not based upon my acts and rather it relies on the state of my heart, but how is our love for God shown? Obedience.. and I believe that we as Christians have been called to serve.
