Your Many Names

Just a note, this thread isn't about usernames but about names in general, like other things people could call you.

I use the name Multifavs for most of the websites I've joined since it's easier that way. The only place where I'm active and use a different name is Fanfiction; I'm changingfavorite there, and that's because I made that account before I came up with the name Multifavs.

Got it. I know people who use first and middle names interchangeably in real life. Also, people with non-American names coming up with American names for themselves.

I'm not on any other social network so I don't have many names. Do people use different user names for various social networks? Why not have a consistent identity?

I dated a tech exec in the past and he chided me about this. He explained how my information could be used to find my location. After he was done, I was like forget it.

Usually if anyone is using a different name for me, it's not a positive thing.

I've never liked my name. I think I heard it entirely too often as a kid as a signal that discipline was forthcoming. I hate having two middle names. I think my full name sounds overly self-important. I don't like that my "new" first name is most often 'doctor' now.

I have a name. My name is mine. I am not my name.
