That's pretty funny. Wow, that thing is pretty heavy looking.

not only was it unbelievably heavy, it also was HOT. You run that thing for an hour with it sitting on your lap and it will burn you.

it was a cool comp though. I spent all day with it.

Had two fonts which were changed by a little DIP switch at the back.
took low density 3" floppy disk. Used DOS 3.11.

The only programs I had were Wordperfect 5.11, Lotus 123 spreadsheet and my favourite game Stellar 7!!!!!

at the same time my brother ran one of these (IBM PS/1)...

the matching printer he had was EXTREMELY LOUD!

They probably still had the power supply built into the chassis. Modern laptops build the PSU into the charger cord. Reduces weight and heat.

Let me guess: Dot matrix printer, right?

i guess so. The power supply on that thing must have been the size of desktop power supplie's today

as for the printer, yep it was a dot matrix.
but it was WAY louder than your usual dot matrix

p.s. I just downloaded stellar 7 and played it and WOW i never played it THAT fast before. It uses the system speaker for sounds!

The first machine I cut my teeth on was a PDP10, a 36 bit machine running DECSYSTEM20. It was not mine, I just had a timeshare account on it.

Then I played with an Apple IIplus, then an Atari 400. Even built a cable modem back in 1981 that allowed us to transfer files across the cable tv network.

The first machined I owned was a Atari 1200XL. I still remember paying $389 for a 140K floppy drive for it. That really hurt!

The coolest one though was a Tektronix 4052

I waited for it to come on the market, resisted the Commodore 64. I did not use it to go online... wasn't much on line in 1985-88.

It had a 5.25 floppy disk, an rbg monitor, and I was envied by my friends. It cost so much money and only lasted three years. Oh... it did NOT have mouse.
