  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My teeth are working against me. I enjoy visiting the dentist.

Well, I don't know if I'd say I enjoy it, although I don't go there with the sense of dread that I used to have, knowing they were going to find something else that needed work. I go there with confidence now and would be surprised if they found any more cavities. Cleanings are much easier now too, and I'm delighted to have discovered Xylitol, which will make it easier still.

BTW, how are your teeth "working against" you?

I often did it in hassle. so I ended up at the dentist with a root canal treatment..
Was brushing the teeth better.. But no flossing, because I did not like it at all, and it was not a routine.
Next result; Getting a crown soon
So FINALLY I see the benefits of brushing well and flossing well. ugh.

Don't feel too bad. I went from age 12 until about 23 hardly ever brushing my teeth. Didn't see any real reason to. Then when I was 23 after noticing cavities, I ended up needing more fillings than I can count. But now that the damage is repaired, I brush twice a day, floss once a day, and use fluoride rinse. I also recently discovered the amazing benefits of Xylitol. I don't remember the last time I had a cavity that needed to be filled. Of course, I regret not taking care of my teeth earlier in life, but I feel like I've learned from those mistakes and am now on the right path.

Wait. Are you serious?? Did you never date in your teens & early 20s?

Nope. Still don't. Somehow, I don't think my teeth is the reason.

Well my girl makes a face if I kiss her after eating Doritos or a tuna sub without brushing my teeth or popping a piece of gum. I definitely think dental hygiene plays a role in having a good dating life, lol.

Oh, I'm sure it does too. But I haven't had luck whether I do my current routine, or if I went for 9 years without seeing a toothbrush :D.
Maybe my personality is what needs a toothbrush. I'm quite the introvert.

oh wow. I'm not alone ;)
I surely am learing the lesson now, too, wish I did sooner. Having to spend 2000 on it as a student is not ideal.

Me too. I get particularly interested during the cleaning. It's about the closest face time I get with a female. I like looking into their eyes. :bigeye:

(Boy, that sounded creepy; creepier than I meant it to be.)

I know what you mean. It's about all I get for face time too. Too bad she wears a face mask the whole time. Scraping my teeth doesn't help make it romantic either. :D

I see at least one person has stated they have braces. I've been pretty good with oral health. Brush a few times a day at least. Rinse many times a day, used to use various brands but, after consulting several dentists, they all suggest ACT. When I went to the store to look for it, I see there are 4-6 different kinds of ACT. Started using that brand. Flossing is something I actually enjoy doing. It just feels good to have a clean mouth. Was going to get a little cosmetic work done earlier this year and the dentist strongly suggested me getting braces. That was hard to take due to its cost and other isssues. They told me ( had a few consultations ), that my bite was causing my teeth to wear funny and, in the long term, I would be better off.
So, had to really ponder on that for a few months but, am now in my 2nd month wearing braces. The biggest pain is I cannot floss in a normal way and it is very tedious to do. Eating is a whole 'nuther experience with much of your food staying in your mouth without knowing it, etc. Am still learning how to deal with it. I have my next appt on Monday. I will floss for sure while he has the wires off. ugh.
Of well, I will be better off in the long run with nicer, straighter teeth. I cannot see kids going through this. At least as an adult , I decided to do it, am paying for it, etc. it can be tough. But, am looking forward to a nicer smile in less than 2 years.

Something else I wanted to suggest for my Christian friends without insurance-
Strongly consider going to a dental school. I started going to a dental university in Mesa, Az, there is also one in Mo. It is called AT Still University. It has been a very good experience. Nice people, very professional, very affordable. I plan to be a student there for life. I've met a few very attractive gals there too! Something I had not thought of. It is a great experience, you just need to be patient. They do not move you in and out, like cattle, as they do at a regular office. You may be there 2-4 hours. I bring a book and or my lap top and am fine waiting.

This thread is to discuss your dental habits as far as brushing your teeth, flossing, mouth-wash, oil pulling, dentist checkups, or whatever else you want to talk about in the realm of dental care.

Brush and floss before bed. Which reminds me, I need to get some more Listerine.

I'll also brush before going out to some kind of event where I want to leave a good impression.

I was in braces from when I was 34 to 36, so I can relate to what you've said about being in braces. Flossing is something you won't be able to do, but you can use something called a Proxabrush https://www.amazon.com/GUM-RDC10231249-Go-Betweens-Proxabrush-Cleaners/dp/B003UZWF7S?th=1 to push food out between the braces after a meal. If you're at home, a waterpik device is very helpful https://www.walmart.com/ip/Waterpik...175035&wl11=online&wl12=5740917&wl13=&veh=sem
