Young authors

Hello, are there any kids here who write? I've been talking in some of the forums, and it's mostly adults. That's fine, but it'd be fun to talk to someone around my age too. If there's anyone in here around my age who'd like to talk, could you write here? Thx!

I write only when I get inspired. I was trying to write a book. But I totally lost inspiration for that. I will get it completely written one day. We'll see though. Poetry is my favorite to write. I always get all my emotions out in poetry whenever I feel overwhelmed. I'm kinda close to your age. I'm almost 18. Who knows, maybe some more youngins like yourself will stop in.

Hello, nice to meet you. I am currently writing a fantasy story (20 pages so far, I can write a lot when I get around to it). I have only tried one time at poetry and that came out as a mini-epic.

well, i write as well. i've been writing for my own pleasure since i was probably 14. it's entertaining when there's nothing going on *cough*duringclass*cough* it's a bad habit. i have a story that i'm trying to finish right now that's about 70 pages. i have one before it that's a little over 100. wrote that last year. took about 6 months total. i have a problem with going back and editing though. i never want to edit.

Same here, Ceris, I even became a managing editor at a magazine instead of a writer.

Well, I started writing quite young, but I'm better at helping a creation than starting one... but the hobby does pay, though. I'm going to go to college for Writing Studies.

Ew, editing stinks. . A bit odd, since I love video editing, but can't stand editing written stories.

As for me, I love to think I love to write. I come up with stories, but get the worst writer's block. I mean true writer's block, as in you've got a great story, but you can't get it down on paper. I pretty much have to get over it though, since I'm called (please, don't beat me up over this) to write. Anyway, I'm a fresh seventeen year old, so I guess that constitutes as young. My advice to young authors though is to not bite off a bigger story than you can chew at this point. I tried to write something way beyond me in eighth grade, and it was awful. I would recommend starting with something easier. Okay, so I'm probably not making much sense, so I'l be going now...

Hey fellow teen writers!

I got a funny start. I was obsessed with poems since I was supposedly good, being insightful and all... and I thought I would never write novels because it's too difficult. THen lately, I had been attracted of writing a novel...and I'm now also attracted of writing a memoir! I'm also thinking about starting some kind of "club" for serious writers for Christ.
Let me on your input(I might even have a post about it!

I'm not 13, but so far, I'm the closest of all that have replied, hehe. I write poetry, just as a hobby, but I like to write essays and stuff like that too.

Hi, I've been writing poetry since I was eight, and it's still predominately what I write. I enjoy writing of any type though. It's a great way to communicate and just release your thoughts. Hmm, about the editing thing, I don't really mind editing, as long as I'm not being told to edit something that I feel is very important to what I've written.
