why am i not getting alerts when people post on this?
go to User Panel,(up at the very top in the headder)
then click on alerts (right hand column).
next, click on "your account",
then scroll down the menu on the left hand side until you see "Alert Preferences"
click on whatever kind of alert you desire, and that should fix things. :)

thanks for clearing that up, Father Mike. or is it Monsignor? or Bishop?

None of the above, just a guy who doesn't think reckless hyperbole has a place in adult discussion. That you don't want to discuss but rather make barbs exposes your motivation here. Why are more and more people coming g to the conclusion that Christians are phonies who don't even believe the words they spout?

Being serious and being delusional are not mutually exclusive states of mind.

If fact insanity is just a state of mind.

Hallucinatory is just a state of mind.

Sedately Hypnotic is just a state of mind.

...but the there is not restriction that the person in those states of mind isn't serious.

...but being serious doesn't change the insane, hallucinatory, sedately hypnotized state that person is in.

I hang with several crowds. A Catholic Bible study. Atheists. Protestants. Muslims. Agnostics. Mostly a mixed bag of humanity who are united by a live for the water, or music, or sports, or liturature, or hunting, or youth sports, etc. I'm very happ for you that the people you "hang" with are so sincere in their belief. I'm a little disappointed, but not at all surprised, that you elected to take this opportunity to make a subtle (and transparently defendable - "oh I didn't mean it like that...") swipe at the people I know and love. When I think of "Christian behavior", I think of you and LWU and a couple of others here. I think of knowing people by their fruits. I think of the fact that until I really started deeply thinking about the witness I see from Christians here, my faith was strong. And I think of your fruit.

God knows my fruit better than anyone here.
and those who know my fruit here know only in the part that affects them.
which is as it should be.
however i can assure you of one thing;
my fruit will be on display for all to see in heaven.
and i think you will be surprized.

I won't be surprised, as you have just told me how amazing the scope of the work you've done, the sacrifices you've made in Christ's name are. I admire your certainty that your name will be among the elect, as I take something of a "fear and trembling" approach myself. I choose the wide door all the time...heck, I have spare room in my home and I am not even looking into harboring refugees as we are duty bound as servants of Christ to do. I'm not adopting, I'm not fostering yet, the only big sacrifices I'm making are for my family and of course those aren't sacrifices at all.

My Boscs didn't produce very well this year. Serious bummer. My Asian pear trees bore fruit for the first time though, so I've got that going for me.

I don't Cardinal, maybe it's because they are full of sanctimony and hypocrisy.

oh i was thinking more of the far-reaching authority that Cardinals have.
and "Your Eminance" does have a nice ring to it.

then you have an ocean of good opportunity ahead of you.;)

Which reminds me of today's gospel at mass.

Both Martha and Mary made sacrifices
but Mary's was the more excellent.
in choosing to sit at Jesus' feet and listen
she trusted in God to supply the needs of food, hospitality, and service
instead of seeing to it herself.

It is good indeed to serve the Lord.
but it is better to hear the words
of His wisdom which can never be taken away,
and be confident that His provision which He has planed
will be ample for the needs.

Faith without works is dead. It is not an either or. Christians who believe will give their lives to Christ and embrace lives of sacrifice, I'd think.
you've missed the point Jesus was making. read it again.

I have no idea what you mean but I will say this. You and Charlie have the same opinions, the same ideals. The difference between you two is that he is likable and not haughty . You may have very well ebraced Christ and his lifestyle, but unfortunately for you , you have become an on line Pharisee. And again you do not know how anyone here leads their lives. You make Christianity look like a joke because you do not treat people here with any kind of charity if you are in complete disagreement with them. You didn't use to be like that. You're not make progress.

agreed.
basically this all comes down to two things:
1. reading with comprehension.
2. charity.
