You May Notice Some New Advertisements

Hi everyone,

We have partnered with a new ad network and would like to share a little bit about it. You may notice a slide up advertisement or an overlay advertisement once or twice a day. We just want to let you know that when you close the ad, you should not see the ad again for that day. We are capping it to one time per visitor in order to keep the annoyance level down.

This advertisement only shows to our registered users with less than 25 posts and 5 likes and to guests only. Our supporters and contributing members will never see these ads.

We try to find a fair balance in providing a free service while also paying for our time and the costs of keeping the site up, active and secure.

I don't mind looking at ads to support something I'm not paying for, but I do mind ads that play audio. Ads were playing audio, so I had to get an ad blocker specifically because of this site.

they show alot more than once per visit, infact as i speak the 8th in the last 5 minutes just popped up.

also i have over 15k posts and nearly 400 likes.

Can we make sure we are talking about the same ads? These are special ads and not associated with the ads that we had before I made the original post.

If you could get a screenshot the next time it happens and just pay attention to the frequency, that would be helpful. The way the code is set now, you should not be getting the ads that I was referring to in the first post at all. So I suspect this is something else.

Not knowing where to post this I have a question that I haven't seen come up yet. Is there a limit to where a thread rolls over, it used to be at 1000 posts but I see now that thread posts are exceeding that.

I've enabled adblocker now as it was very frustrating to have posts interrupted constantly. i normally try to avoid adblocker, but sadly cf has excessive ads these days.

I can't help if I can't see what you see. It is very likely that something is simply not configured correctly or I missed something.

I had to make use of an ad blocker as well. There are some pretty nasty ads displaying. Very ghastly for a christian website. Are you all really that desperate for funding?

You should not see any of those. If you see pop up ads, let us know what they are. If you see auto player video ads, please report them. If you do not want to receive emails from us, you can easily unsubscribe. We try to find a fair balance but it is hard sometimes and things get through.

I would pay for this site (maybe not at this very moment - very low on funds but soon) if I would get an option to choose not to show a "badge" that I'm a Supporter because it consumes monitor space - have to think about that even though no paper is consumed.
Also I not ice slow down because of the videos, I have several computers so I'll switch to one with at least a faster GPU or maybe also faster disk or more RAM (I'm experiencing the slow down with a 3rd generation Intel i3 CPU, Chrome 64-bit, 4 GB RAM DDR3).

Pardon me if this is the wrong place - I don't see a complaint area - you say on this thread that we should report noisy ads - how do we do that? It's an auto-play video ad, one of those ads on people's posts, and I left that page to come here.
