I actually would have gone to LCMS first, only both the LCMS churches in town are the liberal pseudo-methodist types. so the WELS got stuck with me instead

Welcome to a universe parallel with mine, at least for a few more weeks and there are no other Lutheran churches here, so it's been tough. I'm glad you at least had a Confessional option.

No, I haven't. I did meet the priest at a concert once though - does that count? (The Moscow Patriarchate Choir came to perform here earlier this year - no way I was missing that!)

2 monasteries and a Greek shrine (in St. Augustine). I finally got a chance to stop by the shrine on my annual trip to St. Augustine this year (it's one of my favorite cities to just take a day trip to), and discovered that they have a terrific selection of icons for sale. They'll have a permanent customer now...I have a soft spot for icons, and am always looking to get more. (Do I have you more jealous now? )

You know, when I first came to CF, I had the folks in TAW betting on when I would go EO, and it hasn't happened yet, and I have no intention of doing so anytime soon. I have to live up to my reputation as the crazy Lutheran with the icon obsession, you know.
