I stumbled across this forum looking for other Adventists to talk with. Being new and all you know. I figured I would learn more about my self and the word of God. However coming here and reading what I have read I must say I found the opposite. People so caught up in the nit picking and labeling. People worried about things that in the big picture really are not that important. I thank God for the people in my life and especially my local church. I thank God for Camp meeting and the words of Ron Halverstein (not sure about the spelling). I thank God for Brother Drake and his words. If I could quote them I would. I don't know what is going on here but it is not what brought me to the Lord. I think my short stay here in these forums is about up. See you on the other side, or not.

goodearth,

I certainly hope you stick around - we all have something to learn from each other.

I really hope you don't leave. This is (hopefully) only temporary. :( It's so sad you've seen everyone so stressed out lately, Satan has certainly been working his way into things around here. Sometimes, though, it is needed that underlying thoughts and emotions come out. They just seemed to come out rather harshly this time.

Try sticking around awhile longer. There are some good plans for the forums when things are straightened out! Like the New Adventists/Bible Study area. ^_^

Blessings and Love,
Sarah

Brothers and sisters, this is a terrible thing we have caused. :(

Very much agreed, Night. Within all the fighting, though..haven't all who got angry stumbled too? Not only did it effect those who witnessed it from the outside (this actually caused a friend of mine to suggest me leaving, which I was starting to agree with)..but those involved suffered just as great a damage because the arguing brought them away from God.

Welcome, goodearth and rjoymac!

I think these things are cyclical. I haven't followed it closely, but I have the impression that there is a wave of animosity that peaks once every few months. Something like "Adventist PMS" on a different wavelength (and not to blame the girls, the guys get into it too).

Maybe it happens because new people come in and it takes them awhile to become acquainted with the idiosyncrasies of other members- learn to laugh and take it in stride instead of react when they pull your chain. It takes awhile to observe one anothers' posts to learn that we are really all human after all. Like when the streetcar gets packed, and there is some adjusting and moving around until the crowd of riders gets comfortable again.

It seems this last peak has been a particularly nasty one, but I think this has really made us take a hard look at ourselves, and I think it's starting to subside. I've seen people change, and I have changed- It's even had a positive impact on my family life- helped me learn how to love better someone who was hard to get along with.

I went to another Christian site where everyone was sweet to one another and always agreed, and it made me a little queasy.

This is soooo not good at all. :sigh:

What have we done.......

I think I may have just had my wake up call.
Hold it. When the effect our words and actions has on other humans moves us more deeply than the effect they have on the one who created us, died for us and sustains us our need is much greater than we think. We need not delude ourselves that Heaven does not have access to the internet. The heavenly hosts have been pained for a long time.

Goodearth, I think our main problem right now is lack of moderation and people taking advantage of it.

Once we vote some moderators in, we're talking about getting at least 4, then there should absolutely be some more respect shown in our forum, or people will start getting banned.

Sometimes we don't think we're doing anything wrong, until we get pulled over and asked how fast we were going, you know?

It's important that you stick around because if you do not, you won't get to see the great change in this place.

It's going to be a little while, but it's right over the horizon and I do think good things will start happening, and people will start putting some pride aside.

Yes--but you what T&O--we shouldn't NEED moderators--the Moderator should have been in our HEARTS. This is why there will no police in the new earth--none will be needed because ALL will have no selfishness in their hearts.

There is no need for policing when SELF gets out of the way. What caused all this ruckus? PRIDE!

EVERYBODY thinks THEY have the right answers and when another doesn't see it that way --WHAM--the fight is on.

Maybe now we can see where all this was leading. My Momma always said that if you couldn't say something nice--don't say it all---I wished I would have listened to that good advice IMMEDIATELY in stead of waiting a few days.

I will still stand by my beliefs--but I decided days ago to stop fighting for them.

Its funny and ironic the 1's who are the best at arguments always are the firmest believers in how pointless it is. As Christians we must brush each other aside with a gentle hand in blind faith and love we ponder the universe and how great the creator is, there are alot of theories and intellectuals who just can't get past the FACTS. People I know pride is a factor in our judgement sometimes, swallowing our pride is better than eating the whole foot. AMEN.

Senti, I have always been bothered by the effect all of this must be having on Christ.

However, sometimes it takes point-blank seeing and reading the tangible results of what we are doing from visitors to wake us up.

Whatever God's methods are to knock us upside the head, the point is, he has succeeded with me through the first two posters.

I can't explain it, that's just how it has happened for me.

Think of what it says about HIM. He takes this treatment from us and still treats us as His children. He does not pay us back in kind. He does not give us our comeuppance. Then He says to us, "Follow my example." It is no wonder He has said, "In as much as ye have done it to the least of these ye have done it unto me."
