  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know that everyone experiences this and I would like for this thread to be a support group for it.

How many times have you been determined to get up early to read and pray, but you continually sleep in; you are determined to pray for an alotted ammount of time, but you get distracted; you are determined to fast, but that food looks sooo good, and my stomach is sooo emty?

I want for this to be a support group. A place where we take challenges together, and help each other out. This is something that I need, and am sure that everyone else does aswell.
:) God Bless:)

Oh man, how funny you mentioned that. That was my goal, to get up at least an hour early this morning and pray and read my Bible before my daily chaos began. I didn't get up saying Id do it after taking my dd to school and going to the gym. Then the baby was sick and didn't do it then, gonna do it at their nap time. Something else came up. And so on. It always happens that way, shock, shock! The enemy is often very clever to disguise it too. I definitely need to get up early, b/c if I don't, before I know it, it's nightime and Ive barely spoken to God much less read His word. Thank you so much for posting this!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I deffinetly understand where you guys come from I am a single mother of a 10 month old so I find myself making excuses that I dont have time, but then I find myslef up early in the morning or just sitting there while he is playing, so I guess I do have time. I have trouble getting into prayer someitmes I think meditation will be a good place to start or me.
Reading the bible is something I can never get into, like do I read it from the beginning, or do I just open it up and see where I left off. I dont know I want to get into readind my bible everyday, but it seems I also get bored. I dont know what do you guys suggest? Hope to hear from you guys soon.
Deffinetly pray for me and I will pray for you. :groupray:

I found that a quick prayer at times may do more than alot of lip service. I have asked the Father to bring His Word to me and to draw me into His presence. Before I knew what was going on I saw His Word everywhere. ex. Highway Signs, newspapers, stangers passing on the street, even TV, radio, etc. I just took it in and trusted that God would build up my spirit to help me past the block that I now see as a trick of the enemy to try to get me to operate in the flesh.
It's not by might, nor by power but by my spirit saith the Lord :groupray:

Thats wonderful Vinki I do often pray because I talk to the heavenly father all the time about whats going on in life, but then I still find that I need that personal time to where my mind is only on him, you know what I mean? Every day I want to grow in the Lord, so that his will might be done in my life. I know that if things arent the way he wants theim in my life then my life will fail, im only here on this earth for him to use me, so thats what im trying to get to. I mean I know all of this but my life doesnt show that. I have alot fo struggles in my life, some i dont know how to overcome.
Ok sorry that was way off topic, but I guess it needed to be said. Just pray for me and I will pray for you.

I am a mom too, and have the same problems you do. It's difficult to set a habit of prayer and Bible reading when there is no day the same around our house! Lots of disruptions!

I have on my Christmas list one of those "Read the Bible in a Year" books. I am hoping that will help me. When I am on CF, and see promising verses posted, I write them down and go read them in my Bible later in it's context. That's helped. I also have learned to pray the scriptures and find that very fufilling.

So far though, I haven't gotten into any habit and I wish I could. I do feel refreshed after prayer and Bible reflection.

Just got home from work. Very touched by your message. True that Jesus separated Himself also to spend time with His father in prayer. I would never argue the importance of that for believers. Still I want to emphasize that He is "not slack concerning His promises."
He uses everything to get us to where He plans for us to be in our lives.
He will acomplish that good work He started in you! :
Also remember that even when we are not faithful, He is!
I encourage you and did pray for you, and will again. :amen:

Sometimes I just lift my hands and say Lord I dont know but I know you do. I leave it all to him, because there is no other hhelp I know. Well thanks for your encouragement I need it to keep looking foward. This helps to talk and here other people who understand me, I just pray that I am going where he wants em to go. I will talk to you all again soon. I will be back right here later.

Hey BibleMinnie,
That's the spirit! Keep looking up. We see through a glass dimly, yet someday we will see clearly. There must be a reason for this design of things. I wish you the best and I'm sure this site will always be an avenue of comfort for you. There are many good and Godly people to reach out to. Don't hesitate. God bless you. :)

I understand I am trying to get m,yself in a routine also but it never works especially because I have my son and sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night and then I cant even bring myself to get up earlier that what I have too. I am striving though and I pray before I go to bed that God gives me the strength to make it even when I feel I cant. I just tell him to let his will be done you know what I mean? Well Iam praying for all of you.

You know that feeling that comes over you when you feel compelled to pray and don't or can't because you are busy or tired or as the enemy words it, lazy. Well if he can hinder you from living in the presence of the Lord on a moment to moment basis then the enemy gets what he wants. Remember out of Christs own mouth He does not condem if you feel condemnation that is not from God. I believe that when you let go of shoulda, couldas' the peace that accompanies that is the very presence of the Spirit. It"s like letting go. God did not demand of you that you rise up early, get on your knees and pray. That is a desire from your own heart ,then when you don't acomplish that you let that little insidious devel whisper thoughts of condemnation into your ear. Suddenly praying becomes harder because you feel that you failed God. You didn't fail God, you failed yourself.Remember how Paul says he prays without ceasing. That is how I learned to pray. Every moment of every day. Then the times of intersession come upon me cause the Holy Spirit has the freedom to move me. Also fasting comes upon me quite naturally. That can only happen when I abondon my worldly ways, the coulda shoudas are not from God. They interfere with God because we let our flesh control. In the Spirit you will always feel peace, joy and freedom.
