• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

When you say your IQ = 139-153, which test/scale are you using? Different tests use different scales. It is like comparing 32*Fahrenheit to 32*Celsius. They are not the same.

Since the root of all of our problems is our fallen state, you are completely outgunned in ALL of your problems. (Y)Our only hope is to receive God's free gift of salvation by surrendering to His Son, Jesus.

Once you do that, He will send the Holy Spirit to help sort things out, including making wisdom available. As you walk in that for a while, then you will find your IQ to be more useful (in eternal matters). Until then, it will be a high-power weapon in the hands of someone who neither knows how to aim it nor what to aim it at.

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." Matt. 7:24-27

I only have time to respond to a little of this:

By different scales, I mean,
  1. Mensa-level on the Wechsler (WAIS-IV, WISC, etc.) >= 130
  2. On Cattell, >= 148
  3. On California Test of Mental Maturity (CTMM), >= 132
  4. Wonderlic, >= 35?
Those are all different scores for the same level of intelligence. I am in Mensa and have been in Intertel. A Mensa-level intelligence (or higher) makes one appear as odd (to the general population) as someone with mental retardation (WAIS <= 70). That kind of odd is good, but takes some coping strategies.

Regardless of what our IQ is, the best thing we can do with it is,

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." Mark 12:30

As we do that, God can begin to sanctify whatever mental capacity we have, and optimize it.

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Rom. 12:2

Attending to one's intellect is no more "bragadocious" than attending to one's body, at an appropriate time & place and with a proper perspective. God's best for us, ultimately, includes our intellectual well-being as much as it does our physical well-being.

He says,

"Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool." Isa. 1:18

God wants us to be on-board with His workings wherever we can be.

I believe that as we let God fine-tune our thought processes, we will begin to perceive more hope, joy, His love and His Kingdom, generally. And more solutions to problems that are, ultimately, spiritual at their roots.
