This statement was practiced by the Samurai of Old, and as Christians, we should uphold this. I have a dear friend who doesn't know God the same way I do. She believes you can be Christian AND Buddhist at the same time. I however was taught, "you cannot serve two masters." I love her as my nakama, but she is misled, and as much as I love her as my nakama, I serve my one master Jesus Christ above all. You can't be Buddhist and serve Buddha and also claim to love Christ and serve Him too. Here is a link to many reasons why we cannot be both: http://evidencetobelieve.net/buddhism-vs-christianity/

In a sense, we are not perfect and of course we fall short, but I stand for righteousness and use my God-fearing Blade for Him most High. My heart is not for Buddha, but for Christ. I don't know what i would do without that Love and Salvation promised by Jesus. A verse comes to mind when I think of serving. Matthew 6:24 "you cannot serve two masters. You will either love one and hate the other...you cannot serve both God and Money." This verse doesn't limit the second master as only money. I believe this is a mere example of how our human minds are going to have to choose. Replace "money" with "Buddha" or "Allah" or "idols." Idols are not just stone statues that stick in the ground and sit there for us to look at, it means anything that seperates us from God. Those could mean anything. For me, I feel I have my priorities in this order: God is first then Friends and Family at the same level. Everything else is under that. Reason friends and family are on the same level; I stand for what's right no matter who it is. Example, if my friends are in the wrong and my kazoku (family) tells me, they are leading me wrong, then I will listen to my family. Vice versa, if my family is wrong an my friends are right, I will stand for what's right. I feel serving God is most important and standing for what's right is a way of serving God. Everyone is a broken Human and we need something bigger than ourselves to save us. This is why Jesus was sacrificed for our salvation which is PROMISED!! No matter what bad things anyone has done, as long as they accept the Grace of God, and the fact Jesus is Lord and Savior, they will be saved. No other master promises this. Not Allah or Buddha or Confucius or any other "religious" figure. Don't call what I follow a religion when religion is imperfect us going up and failing to reach perfect. It is a loving relationship with Him most High. He came down to us and even though we are imperfect and sinful, He loves us like no other! Amen!!

That's all pretty funny, coming from someone claiming to be both Christian and a Bushido follower.

Buddhism is a philosophy, by the way. It doesn't have a deity.

First off, bushido is not Buddhism. Second, samurai were servants and Christians are called to be servants, what more a Christian Samurai, who serves God as the master I serve unwavering fealty to? If you look at the true history, many samurai made God their master and died for it. When the daimyo said, "take your life for me or die" the samurai refused and said he or she would rather die, and that the life they held wasn't te daimyo's but God's. Read Paul Nowak's "Way Of the Christian Samurai" it's a book that focuses on the aspects of Christianity and Bushido and how they can correlate to each other. Samurai were supposed to die in the battlefield, Christians are taught to "take up our Cross." Read Matthew 16:24-25 it talks about how "the way is found in death." I do not "serve" Bushido, I merely say that I see God in all things He created and the correlation between the two. If you are here to say Bushido and Christianity don't mix, I've heard it already, and have debunked that statement many times. Don't tell me who I am when you don't know me, and what I follow is what I chose. Whatever you say is irrelevant to me. Whatever you say about me as a Christian Samurai is wrong since you are judging me based on one post. What does God say about Judging others? Do you know?

I know Bushido isn't Buddhism. It's Shinto. It is also part and parcel of being a samurai. There's more to it than photographing yourself with a cheap wallhanger katana.

The complete quote of what President Obama said is... "The future must not belong to those who bully women -- it must be shaped by girls who go to school, and those who stand for a world where our daughters can live their dreams just like our sons. The future must not belong to those corrupt few who steal a country’s resources -- it must be won by the students and entrepreneurs, the workers and business owners who seek a broader prosperity for all people. The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam." He is obviously referring to those jihadists who desecrate the ideals of Islam by distorting the meaning of what Allah spoke into condoning sexism and theft. I hope this is what your quote is intended to mean, as it can be interpreted differently by those who wish to connect our Christian president with ISIL.

was this mistakenly posted in the wrong thread ? seems a bit off topic ... also sounds similar to the rhetoric Adolf spewed ..."he students and entrepreneurs, the workers and business owners who seek a broader prosperity for all people."-very communist type feel to that sentence ..interesting

I know .. he says judgment begins in the house of God .. ,, he says the measure we use to judge wil be the same measure used to judge us . its also written that we are to judge the church from within the church .. there is a difference between judging to condemnation and "making a judgment call and discerning what is and is not of the Spirit of the Lord .- this latter is what is being applied to your case .

the information you present is "all" people have to go on .. yet it is enough . for your defence of the shinto aspect of things is plainly not from the Spirit of the Lord JEsus .but rather a usurping of his rightful place .THe insistence you have in holding fast to your mingled philosophical version of christianity is not based on faith in the lord JEsus alone and your concept of loyal servant hood is flawed in that you are not wiling to lay down and renounce the bushido and shinto side of things . displaying that your claims are false for in your self effort to serve both the message of the Gospel and hold to your samurai traditions .you serve neither but are used as a puppet in opposition to the lord JEsus who cals us all to REPENT ..turn away from all else .and the contradictions are all over the place .
you say " what you folow is what you chose .. " yet the lord says you did not choose me but i chose you " the lord says "no one comes to the me except the father draws them " . these words attribute absolutely everything to God alone ..where what you thus far share shares the glory between God and your own abilities toward loyalty .When in truth there is absolutely nothing you can do to achieve salvation other then OBEY what the lord has shown must be done .. "repent of following our own sinful ways and be baptised for the remission of sin and you will receive the Holy Spirit .
but the manner in which your present yourself as clinging to a worldly based way and entwining it with the gospel ..shows you have not yet repented but unwittingly -serve TWO masters .

the statement above about judging, was not for you but another user who said some insulting things on a thread that I posted that came from my heart. I honestly don't think of the Shinto aspect of things when Bushido comes to mind. I believe in Jesus as my Lord God and above all, I serve Him. And I don't worship Bushido, I worship God. Telling me to go and repent what I am doing wrong, but what have I done wrong here? Yes I know humanity is broken and needs a perfect God and when I meant "what I chose is what I follow" I meant I chose to accept God in my heart, when he chose me as a servant and to have a relationship with Him. I know you mean no harm in what you are intending to say, however I've been flamed many times for posting the above thread, and I'm ignoring what those people have to say since what they say is irrelavent and I'm not gonna deal with that right now. I have a way of seeing God in all things created by Him, and even secular things can bring me closer to Him. I am saying that even though Bushido is a secular thing, I can see this secular thing as a way to teach my people in Japan about Him. I want to teach my people in Japan about being a Christian, a follower and servant of Christ, so being a Christian Samurai means I serve, and I serve God. The reason I have that "title" of Christian Samurai is because I practice Iaido/Iaijutsu and I follow God. By no means do I follow Bushido to an extent of separating me from God. I merely have correlated them together.

i think ..no. i KNOW .it is wise to cease from doing so .

the word of God IS wisdom .. it cannot be added to nor enhanced by any partial philosophies of this world which is ruled and inspired by the prince of the power of the air(being the spirit of antichrist)-as it is written "the wisdom of man is foolishness to God" . One of the greatest hindrances to the Gospel in japan is this very aspect of "merging gods" .you introduce the lord jesus and they place him on the shelf with all the "other Gods " .when the only way to follow and obey him is to forsake all other false gods .
for again as it is written " .... Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial?(the spirit of this world ) Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? "

forsake all else to follow the lord Jesus for "thou shalt love the lord your God with all your heart and all your mind and all your strength - and -It is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only."

you see when you have a container filled with the purest of water ... the moment you add a single miniscule drop of an impure water .. the whole container is no longer pure .. but impure . we MUST NOT EVER mingle the waters .., for as the lord has said so often in his word .. A little tiny bit of YEAST (LEAVEN) will cause the whole lump to rise in sin . if you truly desire to Give your people JESUS then you must present him as HE has told us to do it ... never in our own way .

up untill this point you have done well to be passionate toward the lord . but now .. cast of all else to follow him undivided . (that is not a judgment it is the best advice i can give based on the word of God and experience . ) plus i will PM you a link for you to watch and get VERY excited .
