As we face trial after trial, there will be times where hope seems gone, you feeling like giving up, and you believe you can't endure anymore suffering. During these times, focus upon God's promises and true stories like David and Goliath.

1 Corinthians 10:13 says, "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will you a way out so that you can endure." This means God controls all we face in life. He will never give us a trial too overwhelming to handle through Him. As He uses our troubles to mold our faith and endurance, so our endurance can become mature and complete (James 1:2-4), "He also promises "never to fail nor abandon you," (Deuteronomy 31:6-9) "that all things work together for the good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them" Romans 8:28), "that "He is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those crushed in spirit" (Psalms 34:17-19). He is also our Shepherd. I shall not want." (Psalms 23:1)

To be strong through the trial, we need courage. Dale Carnegie once said, "Most of us have far more courage than ever dreamed possible." David, an ordinary shepherd boy, had the courage to defeat His giant-sized trial in the form of Goliath. His earlier years of defeating lions and bears through God enabled him to have the faith and courage to stand face to face with fear as David realized ,"The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lions and the bears will rescue me from this Philistine." (1 Samuel 17:32-37)

Jesus said in John 16:33, "Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." In this David versus his giant true story, David replied to Goliath's death threat, "You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's Armies - the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Toda the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men of your men to he birds and will animals, and the hole word will know that there is a God in Israel. And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues His people, but not with sword and spear. this the Lord's battle and he will give you to us" (1 Samuel 17:41-50).

You know the rest of story: David defeats Goliath. He succumb to the temptation of fear and doubt when face his giant-sized trial. And Israelites were free because of David, and people realized how great God is, and that He delivers His people out of bondage.

The next time you face a giant trial, remember these promises and the story of David. Not only God will deliver you the trial, He will also, in the meantime, build your faith and perseverance, so you will be able to face and conquer bigger trials through God. And the people around can see God through the trial - for encouragement and courage to face their personal giants.
