have any of you glanced in the theology reports section lately? Do you know where all the reports are coming from? You guessed it, THIS subforum.

Pardon me for saying so, but I see ALOT of people trying to remove specks out of others eyes right now in this forum, all the while smashing the other person in the face with the beam potruding from their own.

To the crusaders against homosexuality:

Exactly WHY is it you feel the need to harp on this one topic? Why is it thread after thread is started, or detracts into a flame war, because of the vast difference in opinion?

let me make something very clear, I myself personally believe that homosexual sex is sinful as dictated by the bible. However, I have NO idea how beating others with your "holy stick" is serving any real purpose. Nor do I believe that it is any more grave a sin than being a spiteful, hateful jerk!

the accusation is against you that you are hateful, and in some instances that could be warrented. I have seen some incredebly hateful posts from our supposedly "showing the truth" while ignoring the truth of God... Love others (including homosexuals) as you love yourself. Yes, yes, I know the apologetic... it isn't hateful to show someone the errors of there ways.

show me ONE instance where Christ said anything regarding homosexuality? no, that doesn't make it right, but it also showed his lack of prioritizing when it came to sin. Being bitter and spiteful is every bit as much a sin. And to think so many churches out there make their platform on this one issue along. How about focussing on something like, the poor? the needy?

I'm sure Phelps would be proud of some of you.

to the Homosexuals, and to those who support them:

Yes, you have been hated, and subjected to hateful speech.

however, I may point out that what is good for the goose, is good for the gander. I see baiting, and hatefulness from your camp as well. Fundamentalists (which, I might add, is a misrepresented word in the first place, it should read extremists, if you are going to label people) are derided as strongly as over-zealous people deride homosexuals. You have the gall to call everyone who takes the bible for what it says as deluded. There are so very many of us who believe what the word says without having to find a different interpretation for it (and yes, I COULD BE WRONG, but I've seen no strong evidence to believe so) that you have arbitrarily lumped in with Freddy P. and his ilk, because we have the "indecency" of disagreeing with you. I've seen the accussation over and over and over again that they show no love, however, I don't see much going the other way.

Now I'm sure I've sufficiently [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed off both sides of the fence, and I will shortly be getting an earful.

perhaps that is a good thing, it will stop (or slow down) the lot of you poking each other with your sabres for a few minutes.

seriously, GROW UP.

I agree with the original poster.

It is hard to speak the truth in love if you are saying hurtful things about them and their way of life. You may not agree with it, but that doesn't mean you should hate them. Show them where you think they are wrong, and leave it to the Holy Spirit to guide and convict.

If you really love them, pray for them.

It took me a while to figure out what you meant by report forum. In any case, I agree, wholeheartedly, but I'm also guilty of it. Bad, bad, BAD habit and I need to try harder to change it. The way you put it makes sense, of course. Careful, too much sense might give me a headache. Just kidding.

But thank you. We do need someone like you telling us to stop it.

LOL only kidding, thats my Deniro impression. I agree with much of what you have articulated. But I guarantee that you will be called on the carpet by the more conservative aka fundies for being too wishy washy. It is either hate the gays or euphemism goes, the sinner or your out of the club. There are Fundie forums that will not even allow the word gay, They insist on the acronym SSA. I mean to insist on a specific Nomenclature for a person who kis gay, is going a little off the reservation. But we will see the responses.

This debate is about one issue: is the bible we read an authority or not?

To the crusaders against homosexuality:

Exactly WHY is it you feel the need to harp on this one topic? Why is it thread after thread is started, or detracts into a flame war, because of the vast difference in opinion?

A couple of major reasons. First of all the gays say it is not sin.

Secondly, if you've been reading the news, it's splitting christendom in two pieces. Sooner or later you must choose which side you are on, because the views are totally incompatible in the church.

let me make something very clear, I myself personally believe that homosexual sex is sinful as dictated by the bible. However, I have NO idea how beating others with your "holy stick" is serving any real purpose. Nor do I believe that it is any more grave a sin than being a spiteful, hateful jerk!

Many gays tell everyone that repentence is not necessary. What do you think about that? Do you think that's a good message to preach?

the accusation is against you that you are hateful, and in some instances that could be warrented. I have seen some incredebly hateful posts from our supposedly "showing the truth" while ignoring the truth of God... Love others (including homosexuals) as you love yourself. Yes, yes, I know the apologetic... it isn't hateful to show someone the errors of there ways.

ok let's see you debate the gays here on the point you've already made:

1) you said gay sex is sin. Do you care to prove that with a bible? Let's see you be the guy that does it right since nobody else can.

show me ONE instance where Christ said anything regarding homosexuality?

He mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment on several occassions, and it wasn't good:

Matthew 11:24But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

The souls in Sodom are burning in hell today according to Jude, as an eternal example. We should learn from it.

no, that doesn't make it right, but it also showed his lack of prioritizing when it came to sin.

He didn't condemn any sin that I recall except blasphemy against the holy spirit. He didn't have to prioritize sin. That was already done in the OT law, which Jesus came to fulfil.

Being bitter and spiteful is every bit as much a sin. And to think so many churches out there make their platform on this one issue along. How about focussing on something like, the poor? the needy?

THey focus on the poor and needy as well. I think most churches have a very balanced perspective on things myself.

I'm sure Phelps would be proud of some of you.

I'm sure the internet cannibal would be proud of some people here as well.

I'm not looking for someone to love me when I tell them they are a sinner. I rather expect retribution myself.

seriously, GROW UP.

So has your church split over gay sex yet?

gee i was just thinking of you in one of my last posts ;) . So I assume you are without sin and have cornered the market on biblical interpetations ?

Romans 2:1 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.

"But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground." "And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst."

Or how say to your brother, 'Allow me to take the splinter out of your eye,' while the beam is in your own eye?

no, it's not. It's about who has a corner on truth, and who's living the "good life" better.

i have my side, in my beliefs. I see no need to wave a God hates [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth] placard around. It is unloving, and unchristlike.

MB said:

that's a useless generalization. "many people wear tinfoil hats to block space signals." "many people wear their underwear inside out once to save on washing."

the bible speaks for itself. I cannot force someone to abandon thier eisegesis of it. Nor do I have any need to. Christ is the arbiter, not me.

and if they chose not to, they choose not to. Are you so certain that your personal pet sins aren't going to place you in the same catagory? We all have them.

so then, do you eat shellfish? wear blends of two fabrics? Shave your sidburns? If you refer to OT law, you need to be prepared to follow it all, don't you think?

ah, yes. Feeding children, comforting widows, and self-righteous preaching. a perfect balance.

be careful by what you measure. You'll be measured by it. Of course they are sinners. Everyone is. What is gained with the browbeating?

Mercy is right, this is an infestation getting into our churches. And taking the hippie lets love everyone but not correct them read will not help them. We must fight this, and IT IS CHRIST LIKE TO FIGHT THIS since Christ would never permit this in his church.
