  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yield!

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever!

I read a story about a communication that took place some time ago between a U.S. naval ship and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland. The Canadians warned the Americans, "Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision."

The Americans responded, "Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision."

The Canadians said, "Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision."

The Americans: "This is the captain of a U.S. Navy Ship. I say again, divert your course."

"No. I say again, you divert your course."

"This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States Atlantic fleet. We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers, numerous support vessels. I demand that you change your course 15 degrees north. I say again, that is 15 degrees north or counter measures will be undertaken to assure the safety of our ship."

After brief moment of silence, the Canadians responded: "This is a lighthouse. It is your call."

___________

Sometimes we don't like what God wants us to do, and we want Him to change course when, in reality, it is us that ought to change course.

We need to understand that God's plans are better than ours. Having said that, it does not mean that they are always the easiest plans or even the most appealing at the moment. There are times when we are going through life that we might not like the plan of God. But God's plans are always better for us in the long run.

Today, are you steering your ship or is God in control. Just keep this in mind, if you don't yield to the 'lighthouse' you are heading right into the rocks!

Jeremiah 29:11-13 Thank You Lord that You know the plans that You have for each of us, plans to prosper and give us hope. Remind us each to open our hearts and YIELD to these plans. Please make Your plans for us clear in each of our hearts, continue to help each act on Your plans, continue to help each earnestly seek You. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Awesome! That is a great example of how God works in our life. The problem is that we want everything our way and God comes in a proves once again that He is god. It is my experience that most people I run into really don't want God to be God. They want god to be in their little box, kind of like a magical weapon that they can pull out at any given time to make their life or situation better. I always go back to Jesus, if you look at the life of Jesus you will see that he was not always getting blessed (at least how many today would define blessed), God put him through some very difficult situations. Our God is a God that will bring us to our knees. In a sense he wants us to get to a point of hopelessness because that is when we will rely on him. :prayer:
