  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Last night, at roughly two o'clock in the morning, something happened. My roommate was fast asleep because she had an early class today (I love and adore my Tuesdays, because I don't), so I was hunched over in my bed clutching a notebook. One of my special notebooks. It's one of the nine I've been putting my novel in for the past two years. My roommate had asked me to shut off the overhead light, so in my hand was my iPod - with the backlight turned on and pointed at the page. I was writing and writing, words flowing, occasionally stopping to reword something, and then it happened...

I finished it.

I have now written an entire first draft of my beloved novel.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^Sorry, the emotion had to hit SOMEWHERE! I'm so happy, so relieved, so...so satisfied. Maybe this is something some of you have done before, but this is the first time I've come to this point. And while I know I'm not done - there's a wide, wide world of editing and rewriting ahead of me that I've already begun to venture into - I feel really, really good about this.

:D :D :D

I had to tell you guys!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha, sorry. Thanks for indulging me.

:D

YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *does happy dance in honor of sunstruckdream* I haven't been there for three years or so, and can't wait to reach that point again. Have you gotten that sort of empty feeling, like you've been working on this for so long, and now you've finally gotten here? Or was that just me?

Anyway....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Thanks Tariel!!! No, I actually don't feel too empty about it, but I think that's because what I've done is still very much a first draft. There's a couple minor character changes and developments I need to do, a little plot enhancement, and a LOT of syntactical and grammatical fixing...so I know my time with my beloved characters is nowhere near over.
But thanks for sharing in my excitement! I'm so unbelievably bubbly...when I get to my three 'o clock class my prof isn't going to know what to do with me =p

Poor prof. ^_^ Trying to expect a writer who just finished her first draft to actually *gasp* pay attention.....it's not gonna happen, is it? I get excited when I figure out major plot points....I wonder what's gonna happen when I'm done with the draft ^_^ *runs off to go write*

Hahaha, that's me. I'll try to pay attention, but I'm not promising anything =) I have so many ideas running through my head! I'm already working on a list of the different types of revisions I need and want...

WHY MUST COLLEGE INVOLVE ACTUAL CLASS!??!

...hahahaha....I'm so giddy...

Pages - it fills nine one-subject notebooks. (More like eight and a half). Keep in mind that I rip out pages when I don't like them and then fix them.

Word count - heaven knows.

How long - I came up with the initial idea two years ago and have been working on it like a fiend ever since.

Best part about writing it - dreaming up the plot. Freaking out over the horrifying parts and the characters' struggles. Seeing my girls grow. And learn. And change. And become strong. Seeing myself in them. Watching their lives happen...

I just...for awhile I was wondering, why am I doing this? Is it gonna amount to anything? Will I ever even finish?

And now that I have...that I've done it...
I feel like I've proved that I have the willpower to do it.
And my dream of being a writer might not be as far-fetched from my capabilites as I thought.

Thanks Casi! Actually I couldn't wait to start editing. I mean, I wrote the prologue two years ago! So I already started making revision lists and rewriting the first part. And I'm loving every minute of it...
Isn't revision so much fun!?!?! I can't wait until I'm done with my first draft :p Quit making me jealous....I need to go write something now ^_^
