If he's an "asset" to anyone, in the sense of being helpful, he's an asset to the Ukrainian and Russian soldiers who are shedding each other's blood, because he's trying to make peace.

people tend to forget that it is in the best interest of countries to work together for trade and mutual benefit. Trump is not a Russian asset these days people tend to forget about good diplomacy and trade that benefits both Nations that doesn't mean something necessarily sinister is happening.

Recall FBI director James Comey's account of Trump's first intel briefing. Trump's concerns were not the briefing itself, but his fixation was distancing himself from any pee-pee tape that may or may not exist. Comey recounts the multiple times Trump would bring up the idea of a tape. At least when he wasn't asking for Comey's loyalty to him.

you may want to look into why Putin did what he did back in the Reagan days when the Soviet Union ended there was an agreement that NATO would not put missiles into Ukraine and what did NATO start doing they broke the agreement that was given and started putting weapons inside Ukraine which is on Russia's doorstep. Ukraine was supposed to be neutral ground and the United States would react in the exact same way if Russia was to come put missiles right on our doorstep also.
