I am a born and raised Catholic, who went to Catholic school. I was never taught that non Catholics go to Hell. I was taught that everyone should be the religion they believe they should be. I was taught that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that I will go to Heaven because of it. I have heard what non Catholics believe we believe. But I never understood why. It has also been my experience that Catholics are the ones that are picked on and judged. I rarely hear a Catholic judge another religion. Also, I was never taught to idolize the saints or Mary. It is my impression that non Catholics are often misinformed about our beliefs, and take what they have heard as fact. We were instructed to confess our sins by Jesus himself. Catholics believe in Jesus Christ, just like any other Christian.

I'm glad you don't believe non Catholics goes to hell. There are some Catholics who have posted differently here at CF. It's not a religion or denomination that makes a person a Christian but a person who has repented of their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. :)
I hope you enjoy your time here.

My foster parents were Catholic, so I understand your frustration. Once I tried explaining to the ladies at my old church (Baptist) that Catholic's don't actually pray "to" saints, but it did not go over really well. It does sting a bit when people make up their minds without ever having experienced it or exploring the concept.

i understand what you are saying (i grew up bapitist) and they taught us catholics worship mary and that there not really going to heaven cuz they have to accept jesus in there hearts...

but i went to a catholic church one day to pray kept going than went to a mass (and being what i was taught many years ago..as i hadnt been to church for years at the time) i went to a mass and the more i went the more i realized i was taught different!! i was like SO mad..everything i was taught was WRONG..
thou it was hard jumping from baptist to catholic thou i must admit lol..

but i been going to catholic churches for about a little over a year now.. i made a motto not to believe what everyone says to be true... to go within myself to find that truth out myself!

welcome to the forums! :D
