thanks that validates my response to my 'christian' friend's husband when their 9 year old told me that her dad does that quite often....yikes. I wondered if anyone else thought that was pretty bad too.

That is rather rude and more likely to make someone dislike Christianity than to attract them. I sure wouldn't want someone yelling at me as they drive by, especially if it was something I didn't understand. Even if I did understand that it was someone promoting something I'd think they were either nuts or creepy or both and I sure wouldn't want to have anything to do with them or whatever they were promoting. If it happened more than once I'd probably go out of my way to avoid them and whatever they were promoting.

Your friend was probably just being goofy and kidding around. 9 year-olds tend to leave out stuff, like context.

In this day and age Christians seem to be so worried about preaching the Gospel to hard and turning people off Christianity that they try to preach it in a manner that will not offend or confront. is that the way it should be?

What if Paul or Peter or any others of the apostles weren't bold in the message of salvation? would Chrisitanity be were it is today had they been timid?

Crossrunner your right that we are to be the salt and the light but what is salt? what is light?
Salt is a substance that is added to meals to enhance the flavour. when you eat salt on a meal you can taste it can't you. it stands out. salt is what you could call a "loud" flavour enhancer. it sticks out more than just about any other flavour enhancer you could think of. you can always taste the salt on a meal.
Light is something that is bright and that sticks out. why can you still see a light on in the day time? because it is brighter than its surroundings.
when Jesus said this i believe that He is calling us to stick out and be right up there where people can see us and "taste" us.
I challenge you to find an instance where a massive harvest of Christians or revival of hearts was not led by someone who was bold in there preaching of the Gospel. people need to know Jesus and the best way to tell them is to say "Jesus loves you".
There's a song that says: "what this dying world could use is a willing man (or woman) of God that dares to go against the flow and work without applause..."
Someone who dares to go against the flow. isn't that what Jesus and the Apostles did?
The Gospel is confronting and abrasive, there ain't no other way to truely tell it.
Just a thought.

It might be rude to yell at people from a car but at the same time you should be bold in your telling of salvation.

Galatians 1:10 - "Obviously i'm not trying to be a people pleaser! no, i am trying to please God. if i were still trying to please people, i would not be Christ's servant."

If you want to tell people that Jesus loves them then go up to them and tell them. tell people of salvation as Jesus would.would He yell as He goes past or stop introduce Himself and tell them they can be saved? What Would Jesus Do?

If I recall correctly, Peter and Paul stood and preached... they did not hurl quotes as they rode by people on their donkeys... There is a huge difference! Further, people came to know Jesus through their preaching. I wonder how many Sihks have fallen to their knees ane repented after this "ministry".

When was the last time someone persuaded you of anything by shouting at you from a passing car?... or, just by shouting at you?

And why isn't this driver shouting the Good News at everyone? I think this is thinly disguised hatred masquarading as ministry and that's really revolting.

I think that it is the wrong way about it. We are called to love, not shout out car windows at people. What's with that???? I wouldn't do it and I don't think Jesus would do it. He loved people and sat down at their table and chatted with them. Screaming that out of a car window will only make people mad, frustrated, and disgruntled. Most likely it will NEVER turn them from sin. This is my take.

To be quite honest, I wouldn't accept a drink from a random stranger in a park - or if I did take it I sure wouldn't drink it. You never know what they might have put into it.

That's about the most immature and rude thing a person can do, and it brings reproach to the Lord's good name. Surely there will be consequences for turning people away from God, and when I think back how blind I was and ignorant, I hope I have never done things similar in any way to this kind of childish behavior, but we all do to some extent in our lifetimes. Pray for this person and don't judge them too harshly. Maybe they will repent and not bring shame to the Lord's name anymore. Carrying the name of Christ as Christians is a great responsibility, and we do not want to take that name in vain if we can help it.

Of course you would use drinks that are sealed tight. My church has done it in the past and people take it and appreciate it.
