How many YEC's agree with this statement of beliefs on Creation.
Christians are called YEC's (Young Earth Creationists) because they believe the heavens and earth were created in six days. The Scriptures plainly teach that each day of creation was one rotation of the earth's sphere.
Genesis is Scripture and the original manuscripts were therefore God inspired. 2 Timothy 3:16. Translations available today, while not perfect, are a very accurate record of the original manuscripts.
The plain meaning of Scripture is to be accepted with consideration given to the context. Genesis is a historical, eyewitness account of Creation.
Since Genesis is God inspired, it is a truthful, and accurate in all that it asserts as fact.
Genesis plainly states that:
The heavens, earth and all living creatures were created in six days.
(Genesis 1, Exedus 20:11)
Genesis 1 gives a chronology of the account of creation on each of the six days.
Death came as a result of sin. There was no death prior to the fall. (Romans 5:12)
Everything created by God was very good.
(Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31)
Adam and Eve were the first man and woman created by God. They were made from the ground.(Genesis 1:26-27)
It is important Genesis is understood by Christians to be an accurate historical record, because it forms the basis of many of our Christian doctrines, including salvation. (Romans 5:12-21)
God did not use evolution to create those lifeforms we witness today, as that would erroreously imply:
Death and sin existed before the fall,
Creatures were able to change from one kind to another,
Creation took many millions of years.
God is infinite. His word is perfect, and He cannot lie. Any problems man encounters trying to reconcile Scripture with science are due to man's own limited understanding and fallen nature.
