My clinician (Counsellor) Tells me that I am wasting my time talking to close minded people such as Christians. He thinks they are like this because of their beliefs, which make most of them reject what I say in order to protect such beliefs.

"You can't change their minds Chris"

He said

"If someone one is close minded, why would you waste your mental breath?"

He adds

I said, yeah you just might be right.

Same applies in reverse, buddy....I don't waste my time trying to "convert" atheists, agnostics, or deists because they are close minded and will reject what I say in order to protect their unbelief.....and I didn't need a counselor to tell me that!

What would you consider an area Christians should 'open' their minds to?

Who says you have the right to convert anyone to anything?

i suppose if a demon turns someone away from Christ he gets what, 100,000 dollars in his bank account or what? sure seems to be some sort of motivation for you people and we all know it's not really ideological

chris, when I first read your words at the top of the OP, I thought the counselor had called Christians closed-minded by definition, but then when you elaborated on the point it looked like he meant that you do yourself no good if you are arguing with people who won't entertain your ideas--and if you are doing it mainly with Christians on the subject of their religion, you might do better to stop. That's a somewhat different idea from the first one.

I guess the point being raised here.

"Are Christians really closed minded"

Sure, some are and to different extents regarding different topics.
Christians come from the same human pool as anyone.

Sounds like your shrink or councillor is goofy and condescending. I would have thought a mental health guru wouldn't be so judgemental and wouldn't classify an entire group.

This is a truthful wisdom, yet it over-generalises Christians.
"You can't change their minds Chris"
True! It is only God who can do that. We are called to sow and water, remember? It is God who gives the increase. Remember, many are like the path where the birds snatch the seed before it grows. Does that cause us to stop scattering seed? Rather, does it not encourage us to develop a discernment to identify when and which seeds may succeed?
"If someone one is close minded, why would you waste your mental breath?"
Jesus went a step further: do not cast your pearls before swine, otherwise they may trample them into the mud and then turn and attack you! (IOW, we have authority to trample on snakes and scorpions).
I said, yeah you just might be right.
:clap::clap: But, do not throw the baby out with the bath water :wave::wave:

"Not by power, nor by might. But by My Spirit", saith The Lord.

So, what was the goal you expressed to the counselor to prompt him to say this?

It is true that many many Christians are closed minded, it comes with the territory.
If you honestly take it to heart that you know the truth, nothing else gets through to you.

"I know the truth!" Only leads people to reject any other meaning to life.

As if anyone knows the truth of everything.

I think he's just trying to spare me from anymore hurt and rejection.

I don't want people to entertain my ideas, I just want people to give a s#@% about me.
Especially Christians, because they are supposed to know how to care the right way, otherwise everything Jesus said is a lie.

Yes, demonic entities that have no physical form can do that.
