What word got censored there? I can't think of any naughty ones that fit. :p
It would appear that somebody either had an over active imagination, or has indulged in far too much 'holiday cheer'.

At least they should find a better way to censor instead of making a comment incomprehensible.

It was a three letter acronym for "What The...", and it decided to do that "[bless and do not curse]" thing for every letter. I should have known that would be blocked here.

And wow, you posted quite a bit MacFall... have fun with that. I have to keep myself to one active thread at a time.

I just got a kindle and many pages back some of you were talking about the stuff you read on yours. I'm bouncing between "elements of libertarian leadership" and "you lost me". Both so far very good. I just read Yancey's "Christians and Politics" and it was terrible.

Since I have more to read than I'll ever have time for I'm specifically hoping for recommendations that are a) free and b) not terribly long. The 9700 page long annotated works of Rothbard is not something I'll ever start. Oh, also I'm most interested right now in Christian libertarianism or how the Bible doesn't call for big government.

Someone mentioned that they get a weekly or daily download from Mises.org for free but either I can't find it, they don't still offer it, or I'm misremembering.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Someone on the Christian libertarians Facebook group just read Yancey's book and didn't like it either. That wouldn't be you would it?

I'm sure you already know about this site: LibertarianChristians.com - Your #1 Christian Libertarian source on the Web

I was fortunate enough to attend the International Students for Liberty Conference this past weekend (I had planned to make a post about that soon) and discovered a young lady named Bonnie Kristian. She spoke on a panel there and when I friended her on Facebook, found out she was a Christian. She writes for a number of sites, but this is her main one: Bonnie Kristian I haven't got to look at a lot of it, but she studies theology and seems to know her stuff. From what I saw, she does talk about Christianity and liberty, so you might be able to find some utility there.

There's also Gary North's economic commentary on the Bible: An Economic Commentary on the Bible: Genesis to Revelation From what I've read, I'm not terribly impressed by North--mostly because he wastes so much time arguing for theonomy, instead of just sticking to economics--but he worked for decades on them, so you should find some value therein.

As I said above, I was able to attend the International Students for Liberty Conference (ISFLC). Jeff Tucker made a surprise appearance. I had gotten some goofy bowties for Christmas and wore them all through the convention, so when I went up to Jeff Tucker, I told him how both he and Rothbard inspired me to wear the ties. He was super nice of course, but, stupid me, I was so nervous I forgot to ask for a picture with him.

Dorian Electra performed Friday night and I got to be in the front row (I was in the front row for most of the big stuff). A Facebook friend of mine recorded this video at one point in the performance when some people were dancing and you can see the back of my head a couple of times:

Dorian Electra Dance Party International Students for Liberty Conference 2013 - YouTube

Afterward I got a chance to meet Dorian and I assume she recognized my name from Facebook, since she talked to me like we’d always known each other. She was pretty cool and I didn’t forget to ask for a picture this time.

I also got to be in the audience for the Stossel show, which was a lot of fun. Ann Coulter was probably the highlight of the show. Someone said she was trolling libertarians and that seems pretty accurate. Basically, she said the most outrageous things just to get people mad. It’ll be on Fox Business this Thursday if you wanna see it. I’ll probably be visible, since I sat right behind the stage and one camera was pointing in my direction the whole time. One of the producers made the guy next to me spit out his gum, as it looks bad on TV. John Bolton was on as well. He was defending Obama's drone strikes and killing Americans without a trial. Towards the end, in order to justify these killings, he said: "We killed tens of thousands of Americans without trial during the Civil War and it was the right thing to do" and all of us in the audience gave a loud boo.

One of the notable breakout sessions I attended was given by a guy from the Atlas Society. He was trying to interpret the Declaration of Independence from an atheistic standpoint; i.e., where do atheists get rights from? I thought it was actually very good and I did enjoy it. What was probably most humorous about it was how a bunch of anarchists in the room basically ganged up on him because of his minarchism (which he did briefly assert in his lecture) during the question period. It was probably one of the more intellectually stimulating parts of the conference.

Hey everyone! I'm not the most active poster on here, but I am a libertarian and wanted to say hi! I'm a recovering Republican, but I've always had a libertarian streak. I finally made the jump in '08 to the LP, cancelled my subscription to National Review and picked up Reason instead.

Speaking of Reason, a guy at the YAL group I attend will start working there after he graduates this spring. I'm not sure if he'll be actually writing articles yet, but I assume he will eventually.

Also, I was looking through Roderick Long's Wittgenstein, Austrian Economics, and the Logic of Action and he says this in a footnote on the second page:
Ludwig von Mises is the only major economist to lead a double life as a cartoon character; Walt Disney Studios is rumored to have based Ludwig von Drake, eccentric Viennese professor and uncle of Donald Duck, on Mises. In a more recent tribute, DC Comics released a comic book in which Batman attempts to save Mises’ papers from being confiscated and destroyed by the Nazis. Can a team-up with Lara Croft be far behind?
I'd never heard that; that's hilarious.

i'm actually surprised that people at Politically Correct DC Comics have even heard of Mises let alone place him and/or his institute in any sort of positive light.

Maybe there's hope for the next generation.

There's actually a Wikipedia page for the comic here. And here's a panel from the comic:

Some haven't pointed to libertarian themes (apparently put there on purpose) in Frank Miller's Batman comics. Particularly the crappy series The Dark Knight Strikes Again, which has Batman fighting against Superman and the corrupt U.S. government he has aligned himself with.

Comic legend Steve Ditko was a devout Objectivist and often incorporated those ideas into stories. The infamous Spider-Man comic One More Day even features a character reading Atlas Shrugged in tribute to him. Then there's Ditko's characters Mr. A and the Question, two Objectivist superheroes.
