  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yay me!

So - I was telling dluvs about my new living room furniture earlier tonight and told her I would post the links for the stuff I bought. I get a Christmas bonus every year, so I have decided to buy new furniture for one room each year. My 2006 bonus bought me a new dining room set. My 2007 bonus bought a new living room. My 2008 bonus will go towards buying the kids new bedroom sets.

I'm excited b/c this is the first time I've ever bought brand new living room furniture. :D I hope y'all don't mind me showing it off.

My living room has beige carpeting and soft white walls, with a gold accent wall. Here is the furniture that will be going into the room:

Couch:

Chair (not that ottoman):

Double ottoman, with reversible "tray" top cushions:

I bought a TV stand separately and it was delivered tonight (by a very cute UPS driver :swoon:). Here's a picture of it:

Thanks ladies! :D

D - if he delivers my floor lamp, I'll ask him to pose and smile pretty. :D :p

I've always chosen neutral tones to decorate and finally decided to go with some of my "gypsy" tastes and use warmer colors to decorate. I have to say that so far, I've not been disappointed with my selections.

Jen - the trays were a MUCH better option to an actual coffee table for me. The boys would have prolly banged and bumped themselves on a regular coffee table. I figure with the trays, I can flip them over when I'm entertaining and keep them cushion-side up the rest of the time.

I'm very excited. :D I really wanted a new TV, too - but it wasn't in the budget just yet. Soon, hopefully!

Excellent choices and a gorgeous red! Thanks for showing them  I like your idea to do that with your bonus money too, gives extra incentive. I could maybe buy a meal with my bonus :D , this year lunch, next year breakfast, lol!

The last time I redecorated, it was with insurance money!

Money that you received from insurance or money you had to give to insurance, that you used to decorate instead?

It was insurance money that I received from the housefire I had. I don't ever want to redecorate like that again!

Oh, so you had to remodel your home? Not fun going thru the process.....but fun to see the finished product! ;)

Man, I think of all the things I want to do with my house, if I had the money.....please God, let me win the lottery!! ^_^

Grammy - my sister and BIL had to buy all new furniture after hurricane damage destroyed their home. They had only lived in their home for about two months when one of the storms in '04 blew the roof off their garage and caused water damage through the entire house.

When I moved, I took very little furniture, so I had started over with stuff people gave me and cheap stuff that I bought...so it's a nice feeling to be able to buy some "real" furniture again. I really feel like I'm getting back on my feet, finally. :)

My dad assembled my TV stand this weekend and helped me get the entertainment center I was using into the playroom. I just have to finish the vacuuming in the LR and I'm all ready for my furniture to be delivered!

My ex and I split up the furniture room by room. The crazy thing is I bought almost exactly what I had picked out with her when it came to replacing things for my place.

In retrospect, I wish I had changed color schemes, etc. Not that I dislike my current stuff, but it would have been an opportunity to try something completely different.

Well, I took very little for a reason...I really just packed the things I cared about and a few pieces of furniture that I still had that were mine before the marriage. There was no consulting of what was taken or left behind - and I didn't ask for half the contents when we went to mediation. My ex flipped out b/c I took a picture of MY grandpa holding our son - he actually insisted that I leave the frame behind.

In a way, I'm glad that I was sort of forced to start over from scratch, tho. It shows that I'm a survivor and that I can do just fine on my own. :)

Wasn't it sad splitting everything up during the divorce?!

I think that was the worst part for me, trying to remember what was his and what was mine! I cried the whole way thru it!

My ex let me keep all of our furniture, because he wanted to buy all new stuff....so I was happy about that, because I like all of our furniture. :)

Honestly? I didn't want the reminders. :sorry: Maybe that's another reason it was easy to leave the furniture behind.

Altho, if I were his current GF (who is moving in with him soon), I wouldn't want all the furniture my SO had with his ex-wife. :sorry:
