Okay guys, nice to talk with yall. I just want to start out by saying I know our views on perticular religious topics is a verry personal thing, and we get impassioned when talking about them, but please keep your answeres respectfull. O and if you havent noticed I am not a great speller nor am I that great at gramar, so I appologize if what I say may seam scattered.

Okay so Yaoi as I am sure many know is Manga about male couples.
Now I know out here in the real world homosexual relationships are wrong, and I get it is totally a sin. But the question is is it okay to like Yaoi?

I know I know it souds like a dumb and obvious answer kind of question but hear me out. I get that in the real world it is a total sin to be in a homosexual relationship, but so is murder and fornication but I dont see that many people having a hissy fit when they read it in a Manga or see it in an Anime, Or in a movie or tv show or even in a book for that matter. and I dont know if thats becasue heterosexual sex and violence are not considerred as big of a sin, or if its because heterosexual and violence are just so common now. So why is Yaoi considered worse?

To be honest I get the reason its a sin to be in a homosexual relationship I do, I mean god said no and we should listen to him and I accept that. I dont perticually like the fact that its a sin because I really do think people are born that way (Well I think most people are born that way I know some who tried just becasue) but like I said I accept it. And I really get attached to the characters in Anime and Manga, so its nice to escape into a world where its okay to be with someone you love no matter the ginder, even if its fake I wish the real world could be like that.

Now dont get me wrong I am a straight girl, I dont have homosexual desires, and I want to repeat that I totally accept the fact that its a sin in the real world, but I repeat my qeustion is it that bad to liek Yaoi manga and anime?

I think I'll just mostly repeat what I posted in another thread about ecchi:

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:12, and similarly in 1 Corinthians 10:23, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

But Paul also says in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

In other words, you could look at things like that but it is likely not beneficial. I think you will find as you grow more in the Spirit, you desire less to see those sorts of things.

And I don't mean to scare you but just be very, very careful with stuff like that because a lot of times they can be gateways into more and more sin and a falling away from Christ. I have seen it happen MANY times. Satan loves to take advantage of our sexual desires and lust.

I know it's an old thread, but I still wish to respond, in saying that...it's best to quit watching that stuff. It'll only allow the evil one in making you accept same-sex relationships. Whether yaoi or yuri(girl-on-girl), if deep down inside you're not sure about it being right, then it is the Holy Spirit making you aware that it is simply wrong.

Wow it has been so long since I posted sorry guys, I honestly didnt think to look back in for a wile buisy life and all. Im sure you all know that feeling.

I feel what Bristecom is saying, I get that it could lead to other things and to be honset I still have yaoi manga I like but I havent read it recently Im sticking closer to Bleach seeing how it will end.

Though I see where Kenitay is comming from in thinking it would lead me to accepting same sex relationships. I honestly do accept them just for the simple fact that I know it happenes and I did have a gay friend before he got another job. Though I dont approve of same sex relationships, I dont think Yaoi would make me start believing that same sex relationships are any less sinfull any more than a violent movie would make me think violence is less sinfull. Though I do want to repeat I do get where Kenitay is comming from.


I also want to repeat that while I do accept samesex relationships I dont approve. I just wanted to repeat that point since I know a lot of times people have missunderstood what I was trying to say on some of my other posts so I dont want anyone thinking that I think samesex relationships are okay because I dont think that.

You don't have to listen to me on this, but I think you should get rid of it. They are perverted and go against everything God wants for us in our lives. I understand from experience, I used to be hooked on yaoi and I couldn't stop because I became so lustful. But now I realise that it had hardened my heart and had created a barrier between me and God. Now, that might not be your situation, but there's still going to be that barrier. God loves you and wants you to accept Him and not your old yaoi manga.
This is just friendly advice, don't think I'm trying to give you a lecture if it came off that way.

I think you should be careful about how you use the word "accept", because to most people it would mean that you welcome or consent to same-sex relationships. The whole meaning of acceptance is to approve of something, so I don't see how you can accept something but not approve of something.

I'd try to avoid it if I were you. It really distorts what God intends for gender and sexuality, and not just in the sense that it's same-sex. From what I've heard, most yaoi features two very effeminate boys (or one, so that the heterosexual girl reading the story can "insert" herself into it--like with ads featuring an average guy and a hot girl--the guy is supposed to use the guy in the ad as a "self-insert").

Self-insertion for sexual gratification within a fantasy isn't healthy, I should know from my own struggles with lust. Not to mention that yaoi or any manga that's basically there to titillate portrays relationships very unnaturally.
