  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My only issue in having Yule tree is the notion of killing a perfectly good tree just to make a house decoration that lasts for maybe 10 days. Which is why we use an artificial tree to celebrate winter solstice with.
I solved that problem. I don't cut the tree down ^^ We have some nice woods in our backyard and some nice evergreen trees. I also don't decorate any of the trees. 0.0. Don't want to disturb any wild life...plus it gets **** cold. But with the snow it looks absolutely gorgeous...more so then if I put up decorations.

Then there's my house. In there my festiveness runs free ^^

I also have an Xmas tree (artificial) that's decorated inside the house. More for the rest of my family (who are Christian). Besides, it's fun to decorate. My nephew sure enjoys it ^^

I would like to add my view on xmas trees, the history is paganistic.
First of all christmas is a pagan holiday how i no this you ask?
Xmas celebrates the birth of the egyptian sun god.
during the time of mass execution of christians/jews childrean
the evergreen tree was used as a symbol to hang the brains of the children which now is xmas tree ornaments. The garland used now to wrap around the tree represents the intestines of the children used by the pagans. all of this is known by the roman catholic church which they choose to hide. There is no bibical evidence to support that Jesus was born on Dec 25. No where in the Bible states that myth. In fact the time Jesus was born was spring time. In the Bible if we read properly Jesus was born at the time of year where life comes forth. Spring is the only time where the trees and flowers bloom, all kinds of birds sing, animals come out of hibernation around the month of April. Jesus didnt want us to celebrate his birth but Jesus did tell us about his death and ressurection. All of this has been researched.

There are a lot of traditions that we get from pagan rituals, the easter bunny, Chistmas trees, Halloween ect. The important factor in all of this is where your heart is and what the Lord has placed in your heart. for some people a Christmas tree could be a stumbbling stone for others it is not. I personally do have a Christmas tree and feel that it in no way affects my faith or my focus during the Christmas season.

This is what we commonly call "Christian Porn". People make up the most horrific stories to satisfy their need to be shocked and horrified and titillated. It was the impetus behind the "Satanic Panic" of the 80's. Some of the stories made up by "Christians" about pedophilic sex and abuse would have landed any other writer in prison for child pornography, but because Christians wrote it it was OK. Even now, long after the stories were proven false andd the whole SRA scare a fraud the books describing the most minute details of sexual rape and abuse of children are still in Church Libraries with waiting lists hundreds long of Christians eager to read and be "horrified". I personally think voluntarily reading fiction that describes details child rape, or hanging childrens body parts on trees, could only be enjoyed by someone with a very disturbed psyche.

Humble07, go back and read some real history books and leve the Christian porn alone.

Nonsense. You're a witch, and witches are all about boiling people in cauldrons because, erm, shoot that's not reasonable at all. Nevermind. :sorry:

I do not have anything in my house as decoration during Christ-mas that does not in some way symbolize Jesus, or the message of the Bible and in a way that is easy for my daughter to understand.

The meaning of the tree to me is that its triangular shape symbolizes the trinity and that Jesus was hung on a tree. We also use it to hand an ornament a day on that have pictures relating to Christ and the final night the star is placed on the top to symbolize the guiding star.

I love Christmas trees, as a child my mother always put our nativity scene underneath because the bright morning star above the nativity was placed at the top of the tree. All over the tree we had ornaments of angels, some with trumpets to rejoice in the birth of our Lord. As a Catholic we also had our Advent wreath, and we always call Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas.

I plan on keeping with this tradition with my children.

I always have a real tree.

Yes it came from other than biblical origins, as most of the things we do (including the language we speak). Does that make our language which came from pagans a sin? No.

I use the opportinity to teach my children, and remind myself of Christs humble birth, and the sacrifice he made for us.

I use real trees for a few reasons. 1. they are alot more renewable than plastic needles on fake trees that will be around for the next few hundred years.

I take my tree and make mulch out of it, or put it in the lake to become a house for small fish.

Anything that can remind us of Christ is a good thing. The key is what is your motivation? If it's to remind you and communicate your relationship with Christ, then it's good and holy.

Namaste all,

we have an artificial tree that we decorate with lovely lights and shiny things inside and we plant an evergreen every year to symobolize the renewal of the spirit that can be brought about by pursuing a spiritual path.

we are fully aware that Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25th :) and that it was a pagan holidy and all the other stuff, however we still celebrate it as the birth of Jesus.
