  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey, I'm starting a small group at our church (New Life Church, Colorado Springs) with the emphasis being directed at Christians that were involved in a partying, clubbing, etc. lifestyle, and who sometimes struggle against the temptation to go back to it.

I guess my question is this...

...does this apply to anyone and if so how do you face it and who can you talk to about it?

thx,

esseJ

i still go to parties and clubs, but in the past i used to struggle w/cocaine abuse. now, when it comes up i just straight up tell people that i used to be addicted to coke and everyone so far has been really understanding and cool about it. in fact they go out of their way so that i don't fall, and these are usually people who aren't christian. so i've found that being really honest and straightforward works best....people can be really cool in surprising ways

I, being someone that clubbed/partied/etc. HARD, chooses not to go to those kinds of places. When other Christian friends make plans to go, I politely decline. It can sometimes be frustrating and lonely.

I mostly deal with it by making sure I keep busy with other things (ie find alternatives, like movies, smoke/alcohol free places, etc. )as well as being on the lookout for other Christians that feel the same way I do towards that type of "fun".

Ok, I'm not talking about actually going out and clubbing, I'm doing this as an alternative to that...you know kinda a support group for those trying not to go out partying, clubbing, or whatever...and by partying I mean drinking, drugs or the like...

/hope this helps...
