  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'll stick around until I get banned. WWMC needs to stay to show Christians and non-Christians alike that there is an alternative to fundamentalism.

Sounds like a plan!

What's tiring you out, S?
Many things. Do you have a year??;)

Just not feeling healthy in myself. Had an operation to remove a lump in my stomach just before christmas and I have back and leg problems...It's the old age you see.:D

Just feeling out of energy lately and not sure where I stand spiritually at the moment.

Thank you AzA. I appreciate your concern:hug:. I'm sure I'll be okay in a few weeks.

Chocolate is the key.

Yes! Chocolate *is* the key. Make sure it's quality stuff. No point eating it if it's mostly sugar with only a whiff of cocoa! :)

I understand feeling like you're in no-man's-land. I think I live there most of the year! Welcome... you can stay as long as you like... but when you're ready to move on to somewhere more definite, I hope that you feel stronger and more steady.

A lot of people find that winter is a quiet season, and sometimes a low-energy season. We're so used to making ourselves run all year long that it's easy to forget that nature's taking a bit of a break right now! And perhaps that's a good idea for us as well. Where possible.

Light for your recovery,
AzA

Something I heard this week:

"Choosing to live in narrow spaces leads to a form of mental agoraphobia, and that brings its own terrors. I think the willfully unimaginative see more monsters. They are often more afraid...

We do not need magic to transform our world... We have the power to imagine better." -- JK Rowling

I'm back :D

After a few weeks of soul searching and break-time from CF, I was able to recollect myself and just realize I'm once again letting conservatives/fundamentalists bully me out of my own faith.

I hate that.. and I'm so susceptible to it as well with my anxiety disorder.

I wonder if they really know that their dualistic viewpoints on faith (who is "in" and who is "out") push more people away from Christianity than bring them to it.

That's good. :)

Being aware of it helps.

Probably not.

Urgh.. it's the morning of the Olympic opening ceremonies. As a result, they are shutting down our whole operations by 3pm (normally most of us are here til 4 or 5, but they are locking the elevators at 3 which means we all have to clear out before then). The early close comes due to the fact that they are anticipating traffic to be a basic nightmare out of the downtown core.

Good thing? Meh.. it means I have to kill a bunch of time with no money while I wait for DH to get off work, since we commute to and from work together and he has the car. And will I watch the opening ceremonies when we finally get home? Meh.. why bother.

I'm not one bit excited about the Olympics.. they've destroyed this city in so many ways over the last 7 years. I can't wait until it's over and done with. The Olympics is a huge waste of time, money, and energy, urgh.

How did the city persuade you all to go for it, BA? North London (2012) got promised stuff they've never gotten in the last 20 years out of the goodness of people's hearts...

In the current order, people seem to need big hurrahs to push off for what they should have always had the drive to do. We are something of a cyclical species. Until that changes, it may be best to try and work with it.

Psh.. beats me. I have no idea. The Olympics were handed to us before I got here (7 years ago? I got here 6 years ago)

I loathe the Olympics on all levels though, regardless of where it gets held. If I wasn't so lazy I'd be out there protesting "Homes, not Games" with the rest of the protesters...

.. but I am lazy, haha.

I am filled with hot pockets.

 for being random. And nice thread necromancy. :D

I like lemons.

(BTW, totally second what others have said about WWMC. I will be sticking around because an alternative to fundamentalist insanity is needed! Let me know what I can do for the cause! ;))
