Will pray for your friend and her family!

We also left our fertility to the Lord after two children - we now have four! They are a great blessing!!

My favourite Bible passage is Psalm 63! There is so very much in it - God has used it to speak to me in so many different ways at different times!
But there are so many other passages that are wonderful!

I will pray for you, too. It is not easy living apart, even for a little while! My dh moved to the other side of the country to work 2 weeks after our second was born, and it was 6 months before we were able to join him. It was a hard time, but I had a lot of support from good Christian friends, which made an enormous difference!

God bless you

annaapple that was so kind of you to tell us a little bit about yourself.

Children are a wonderful gift from God filled with genuine emotions, wonderment and giggles, but they definitely can be draining at times. I'll be specifically praying for you in that area.

For me I choose 1 Peter 3 for inspiration with dh: 1Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

And there are so many others it's hard to narrow down. I really enjoy the book of Matthew and Job.

What's a SAHM? Oh. Is it a stay at home mother? I'm so dumb sometimes. lol.

Don't feel dumb or foolish-- we've all been there.

Praise the Lord! That is awesome!!!!! And I'm devastated to hear about Marie-Claire's current situation. I'll be praying for her.

Something of interest happened to me this weekend.

There's what I call an "acquaintence" with children who are friendly with my children. We've infrequently socialized. Honestly, it's totally my fault because I'm just not fond of this woman's characteristics and mannerisms. Skipping all the details and trying to not paint a dull picture... she's totally opposite of me in almost EVERY aspect. Both dh and I enjoy her husband and the children though, so it's not like we never get together.

Well, this weekend we all got together. To be totally blunt, she's blatantly competitive with me in every aspect- weight, fashion, jewelry, hobbies, home, etc. I wore no jewelry with the exception of my wedding rings (she's made jealous style comments before; I don't wear an abundant amount to begin with-- just your basics), I wore jeans (she's always comparing our clothing), etc. Basically what it came down to was I was "me", but I removed any elements of "concern" in her eyes.

And you know what? She's actually a very nice person. For the first time I really had a nice time with all of them, and we ended up leaving later than we originally planned.

Here's what is causing me to think really hard though. I haven't decided if I should be embarrassed or ashamed of myself for this, but I'm just going to tell it like I'm feeling. Should I really be making a conscientious effort to eliminate her insecurities and jealousy with me? I'm viewing this with two different aspects. #1: By removing those elements I'm making her feel more comfortable around me. #2: I should not have to change my normal self whether she's a secure person or not.

I'm just really not feeling led in any direction on this. Anyone have an opinion or advice?

My pleasure!

Thank you. She dissolved into tears about 5 times today, poor woman.

And I have a mild opinion, since you ask! When I read what you were saying about your friend / acquaintance I got to thinking about what Paul says about how the one with fewer scruples should always concede to the one with more scruples. Now I know he was talking about kosher food or whatever, but I think it can have a broader application. As CS Lewis says in The Screwtape Papers, if that verse was consistently applied the Church of England would be a positive hotbed of tolerance and love!

By adapting to her, you build bridges. Later, when she feels more confident and trusting around you, it will easy to re-introduce some of the things that you feel are more 'you' - and show her how she doesn't have to feel threatened by those externals because it's still the same you inside. What she's doing doesn't make sense, but then, it is not a rational reaction. You shouldn't have to adapt, but imho it is worth adapting because in this context that is probably more loving than insisting she accepts you as you are.

Hope my 2 cents helps! feel free to ignore

annaapple thank you; I was kind of thinking the same thing. I was wracking my brain trying to think of times Jesus applied Himself to others who were of different characteristics than Himself. For the life of me I couldn't think of a time when He changed outwardly to befriend, embrace or help others. Maybe there is a scripture somewhere, but nothing is coming to my mind.

I completely agree her reactions are not rational. I must admit I was astonished at her complete change in behavior based on my actions. I cannot explain how much of a different person she was-- words just cannot convey it at all. Well, let me back track... it was after she thoroughly examined me she was completely different.

Oh, that's lovely. I'd never really noticed it that way before. By areas I mean what kind of mission work - at home or abroad, service or straight evangelism, if more service-focused, what kind of service etc Basically what are trying to do?

To tell you the truth, I'm not entirely sure. I tend to lean a little toward Evangelism. And I'm thinking about going to the American Indians.

I'm glad to hear that you had a good day thanks to the Lord! I will pray for your friend and her current situation. It's those kinds of situations that especially sadden me.

I agree.

The person called me back about that mission trip today, and it looks like I will be able to go on it if my parents say it's all right. I think it's God's will also. So, as long as my parents say it's ok, I'll be going on a mission trip to the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation! Now to wait and see what they say. Thanks for your prayers.

Would you all pray for Spiritwinds? I PMed her the other day to see what was up, and she said that because of something going on in her life, she is leaving CF. Or something to that extent. She doesn't know if it's forever or not. I don't know what it is, but please just pray for her. Thank you all. God bless!

Reputation And Character
The circumstances amid which you live determine your reputation;
The truth you believe determines your character.

Reputation is what you are supposed to be; Character is what you are.

Reputation is the photograph; Character is what you really are.

Reputation comes over one from without; Character grows up from within.

Reputation is what you have when you come to a new community;
Character is what you have when you go away.

Reputation is learned in an hour; Character does not come to light for a year.

Reputation is made in a moment; Character grows like the oak.

A single newspaper report gives you your reputation; A life of toil gives you your character.

Reputation makes you rich or poor; Character makes you happy or makes you miserable.

Reputation is what men say about you on your tombstone;
Character is what angels say about you before the throne of God.

Sounds like there may be some very exciting things surfacing for you Eldaah! I'll be praying for you.

I'm glad you mentioned that information about SpiritWinds. I've been thinking about her, even first thing this morning I checked to see when she was last online, and I'm devastated to her of the reason for her absence. Praying for her.

You're so welcome, you don't know this but one time you lift my spirit and gave me courage and I know that was no accident G-d used you to give me that extra push I so needed that day and I truly thank you for it, my friend.

Indeed, i will keep her in prayer

I will keep you and your family in prayer, and thanks for sharing
John 3:16-21 " 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[g] 19This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."[h]"

Jeremaih 29:11 " For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Don't feel dumb, just remember PEBKAC

PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD!!

I AM going on that mission trip, and I was kind of worried, because I only have around $400, and the trip cost $400 and the plane trip costs around $700-800! Anyways, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to come up with that much money, and guess what! GOD has already provided all of the money for the plane trip and almost all the money for the actual cost. My Grandma volunteered to let me use her frequent flyer miles to pay for the trip! (She has tons.) PTL! I am going on a mission trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only have to get about $50 more. And my sister volunteered to pay that much. I am so grateful right now for God providing for me to go and on such short notice! PTL! Thank you all for praying. God bless you all. I can't even explain how excited I am! *BOUNCES UP AND DOWN AND OFF THE WALLS* GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I'm so happy for you Eldaah!

... steps away to grab the sledgehammer to tear down the walls and ceiling so you may bounce even higher....

Isn't it amazing how we want something so much so we can taste it, yet He comes through with something even greater and perfectly coordinated? Praise the Lord!!!!

i'm doing pretty well, should probably be working more, since i am at work hehe

It's okay. Studies show intermittent breaks are a necessity for successful and more productive work. At least my own personal study shows that! Glad to hear you are doing well.

That is great! I enjoy chaotically wonderful days. I had one not too long ago. Today was bit like that too, but it was a tad below the "wonderful" threshold.

Huh? lol. What's PEBKAC?

I also was kind of wondering what PEBKAC means.
