  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Here’s one of those “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situations that really happened.

You are employed by your company to hire workers.
A well-educated, well-qualified person applies for the
job but your pastor’s son is also seeking the job but is
far less qualified.

Who do you hire?

you hire both.
give the job to the well-qualified applicant, and rotate the minister's son thru the various departments in the company so that he can learn first hand what it means to work at a job. Eventually his skill set will become evident, and then you can slot him into a position where both he and the company will benefit.

This really happened. A man, head of personnel at his company and a trustee at his church. His pastor knew of the situation and was lobbying for his son, who would soon complete his degree in accounting. The pastor and personnel manager were close friends but he felt his loyalty was to his company and its best interests, so he hired the qualified man and told the pastor and his son of his decision but said he would keep the son’s resume on file. This did not satisfy either the pastor or his son and the relationship became so tense that within the year the personnel manager/trustee felt it was in the best interest of the church for him to find another place of worship. :)

That's probably for the best. My wife once mentioned to me that if an opening ever came up for my group that I should hire her, and I had to tell her that while I'd love for her to make that kind of money (my team members make an average of 60k a year) that she is currently unqualified, so she just not waste her time.
