  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well?

I like to.

What songs? Diff. playlists for different novels? I don't mean for making your project into a movie - I mean, just to get you in the mood.

(Oh, and sorry I've been making so many threads lately. I'm just trying to pick up the pace in here a bit. I miss my fellow Writer's Guildarians!)

For epic battle scenes, I listen to classical music.

Me too, Wagner is great for that. I also like listening to Nobue Uematsu for battle scenes too. Chopin is great for romance and dramatic scenes.

I listen to music a lot when I write. The music doesn't always have a lot to do with what I'm writing, but sometimes it does.

E.g. I like to listen to more upbeat, happy music when I'm working on a contemporary, kind of humorous novel, versus listening to some dramatic soundtrack (though to be sure I do listen to those, too...I love soundtracks). Likewise, I like to listen to classical music when writing something historical or with a more historic-like setting (fantasy).

But I don't strictly adhere to these guidelines. A lot of times I just listen to what I feel like listening to at the moment.

It depends on what I am writing and my mood. A lot of times I find music, or any noise, distracting. However, when I do listen to music, it tends to be the classical stuff, Bear McCreary's Battlestar stuff, and various bits from games, etc.

I find music helps more while researching topics.
