No, but I sorta feel I oughta have one. Culture of life or no, if a reasonably large number of doctors are sure I'll never be conscious again... There are better uses of society's money than keeping me expensively alive. I'm not sure I'm cost-effective as-is!

Get on the Internet and look up free copies from your own state, or go to a store and buy the right one, or ask your health facility for help. If you are really serious about this, don't take chances -- do it right, or it may not have the value of half of a worm in the apple you bite.

I have an advance directive from years ago (military wife), but I really think I want to write a new one, and go into a great deal more detail. If nothing else, Terri Shiavo showed us that NOTHING is as easy as it sounds. Black and white barely exist.

from this website click on "Advanced Directives" to get the pamhplet and the form in PDF format from Ohio's website.
http://www.ohpco.org/

Anyone else that wants a living will for their respective state, go to google.com and type in something like "Michigan State Bar Association" or "New York State Bar Association"

Once you get to the associations website, they usually have a search box for the site. Type in "living will" and start reading and following links. The form will be there for free.

If you JUST type "living will" into google... you'll still find the forms.. you'll just have to pay for them.

I found a copy of free document of my state's "Health Care Advance Directives".
It is well written. I have filled it out and talked to my family.
It is nice my whole family is in agreement but mom did push me to do it since I had been talking about it.
I have signed it and mailing it to those who need a copy: agents and doctor's office.

I've tried, but I just can't get that interested in what people would do with me if I weren't able to take care of my self.

I just don't care.

They can use me as a door stop if they want!

My recommendation would be to pull out your bible...

go through the different scenarios where there were sick people, look at situations lepers were in ect. find out what God would want you to put on that paper. Because our lives should be to glorify God by doing His will, not our own.

Carina I don't really see how I'm not glorifying God by trusting in Him that whatever happens to me if I can't take care of myself would be fine.

I don't see how I would be doing my own will instead of God's if I wasn't able to do anything.

But, I'm not mad if you if you think that's what I'm doing!!

I don't think your not. In all honesty, I've just started doing research. I do have an opinion that I want to put in writing, but I want to make sure it doesn't contradict God's Word. The post I wrote previously is kinda my life motto on any subject. I'm sorry I sounded judgemental. Just trying to give a suggestion.

Hugs,
Carina

Carina please don't worry about me being offended. I wasn't and I don't think you were being judgemental. I like to hear different opinions other than my own!! If someone thinks I am not glorifying God in any way I sure hope they will always tell me so.

I have thought about this issue and all I seem to get from the Holy Spirit is to not worry about it--I should have explained that instead of being silly.

And LostnFound, I have discussed it with my dear husband so he knows that I'm pretty much indifferent--he can do whatever he thinks is best and he feels the same way about himself.

I've had a living will since 1987. My spouse says he's going to ignore it.

If you give a copy to your doctor and other family members, he can't ignore it.

Spread the word and your wishes I'm sure will be honored.
