  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First of all let me say "hello" for I am new here on these forums. Next, I'll get right down to business here. I am a writer and I am currently in the beginning stages of writing a novel. This novel is to take place in the not-so-distant future as one would say. Once I developed my overall concept for the story I realized how it could be somewhat of a science fiction twist on some of the things in the Book of Revelation. I am familar with the basic concept of the Book of Revelation, however I am not a Christian. I figured to make my story better I would read the Bible for inspiration, however I am unsure of which version or even versions of the Bible to use. I really have an interesting twist to put on this part of the Bible, however I want it to be very accurrate. Well, as accurrate as one could get by writing a science fiction intrepretation of the Book of Revelation set in the future. I am looking for recommendations of which versions of the Bible I should read, and also any resources that focus on the Book of Revelation (especially different Christian interpretations). If anyone on here could provide me with any help on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For a reader-friendly (though opinionated as everyone's twist is on Revealtion) get a copy of THE LATE GREAT PLANET EARTH. It's an old book. Which version of the Bible should you read--I can't say. Try the King James, it is traditional, but then try some more modern versions. I actually have a novel being released in Sept, THE GRAIL CONSPIRACY (not the same story as The Da Vinci Code) which has science meet religion based on Revelation. You can see what that is all about at www.grailconspiracy.com. Best of luck to you.
