  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

That's a lot of questions, and you have to take them one at a time. Allow me to share. I consider myself an "Accidental Novelist". I have one story published through an ebook publishing company, which really proved to be a fantastic start. The sequel to the first novel will be out soon, and I now have an agent for a YA novel which she will shop for print. It took two years to get to this point, and believe me they were not without their frustrations. A political analysis or biography would be quite lengthy I imagine. Most fiction novels generally run about 70,000 (short end) to 120,000 words (long end). Mine average 80,000. I actually have one that is 96,000 words and my YA story is 55,000. So again, it depends on what you want to write and market.

Prepare queries and synopsis of your story, once completed, and reserach agents before submitting to them.

Best of luck.

Thank-you so much for your help. :) I understand that it is a very gradual process. However, my fear is not getting the process right and thereby producing a less than reliable work. None-the-less, however, I still intend to write, and hopefully have the work published.

It's usually a good idea to have the finished product in hand before shopping for a publisher. Unless you have a proven track record, they're not going to take your word for it that you'll finish writing it.

Most agents worth their salt won't deal with you on the basis of a single book. Sometimes, you hear about it happening, but it's rare.

My best advice is to finish your book, then research publishers who put out similar material. Be aware, though, that some houses--especially in the academic world--require that your work be slanted toward their politics and social mores, so keep an eye out for that sort of thing.
