Hello, all. The Book of Psalms is an interesting book of the Bible, for it's all prayers & proclamations, not narratives or wisdom or prophets like all of the other books involve. It's not a collection of God's words, but of human words to God.
One thing I started yesterday was writing my own Psalms. What I originally considered was rewriting some of the psalms, to fill them in with my personal struggles or sins or glories, and I might still do that, but for now I'm trying to write 1 original Psalm a day.
The purpose of this post is really just to give the rest of Internetland an idea that's worked out to being some pretty strong prayers for me.
Here's what I have so far:
Psalm 1A:
"Let not the foot of pride come against me!
Bring your sword against the lust that gnaws at my soul!
Destroy the demons that attempt to lead me from You, O Lord!
Let their efforts be in vain!
Let my wounds strengthen me!
Make me a saint, O Lord!
Make me worth of Your kingdom!"
Psalm 2A:
"I am alive in Christ;
Without Him, I am nothing."
Something interesting happened while I was writing these; my handwriting was horrible. Normally, I write legibly, with few scribbles, but when writing these, my pen just kept jumping around, trying to skip letters, and I think it was the Devil trying to keep me from writing such powerful words against him. I think writing prayers in the style of the Psalms gives them a different kind of depth from usual, sometimes being more battle cries than quietly repeated words.
