"Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." (Mathew 16:24-25)

In order to be true followers of Christ, we have to die to ourselves and our own flesh... We must be servents, following our Lord even into the grave if necessary because the time is coming when we Christians will face terrible persecution & tribulation...

"Then they will deliver you (Believers) up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many (Believers) will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another." (Mathew 24:9-10)

We as believers have to stay focused on the altimate goal and that is to see our Father in Heaven and not to be ashamed when He returns!!!

So the real question is...:

WOULD YOU DIE FOR THE CHRIST?????

BECAUSE THAT IS THE PRICE OF THE CALL!!!

that is a hard truth of the christian walk. we must examine our faith to that degree, we could be tested any day and every day, as some are and have been as seen in christian history. www.persecution.com has more resources for encouragement of this part of the christian life. Jesus is worthy.

it can seem confusing when you say "would you die for Christ" because it sounds like would we take His place on the cross, when really we are not worthy to take His place. But are we willing to share Christ with others, as in taking up the cross daily, and giving ourselves as a living sacrifice, we need to be willing to die for Christ in this way.

I do not mean to nitpic, the last question is worded in a way that can taken to a separate issue. but the principle is truth, amen

because i've never been on a missions trip, i really cant say yes or no in good conscience. i pray that i have that faith and deep roots to die for Him who died for me, and i want to say yes terribly, but i dont want to speak without knowledge. Man i want to get out there and show people who God really is...

Yes, if it came down to denying Him and losing my life, then yes. Paul said to live is Christ and to die is gain...either way, we are ahead.

Surely it is harder to live for Christ than die for Him?

Death is merely a stab of pain and then its all over, will probably not last longer than a couple of mins. But living your whole life devoted is much harder than death. And asking yourself the question of whether you are prepared to devote your whole life completely to a cause is a much more difficult one, and yet more important, the act of death saves no one, the act of life makes all the difference in the world.

Not that I have a martyr complex, but I don't know a better way to die than for his sake. The pain would be annoying, but being with the Father...

i personally would hope i could stand up for my faith and die for Him, but being only a 17 year old kid, and being so unknowlegable and so weak in my faith, i would have to hope and pray that God could give me the strength to do so...

Amen brother. I will make no promises to the Lord, because ultimately, I am not capable of making promises to the Lord, but I will do this....I will try to do whatever it takes to resist apostacy. I will not fall. I will LIVE, and carry my cross, as I endure life.

But unlike other beliefs Christians will not, and should not take life in order to be a Martyr for Christ. This is because Christians know life is precious to God and He renders an account for what we do in our life, be it good or not.

some of you say and maybe think you are willing to die for the Gospels Sake.....
but if you are not willing to give up everything including family and church and forum to know the truth, then suffering or dying will not be of any benefit to you.
dying to self comes way before dying for the Gospels Sake, and entails a lot that no one you know will ever tell you.
